Have a Cummins 8.3 in a 923 that won’t build air normally. Replaced air dryer with a new one. No moisture in system. Do the air compressors go out frequently on these? The engine appears to be a reconditioned one
builds air air slow and hard to reach 80 psi
9/97, 1078 is model. Mechanical Caterpillar 3116. i used to be DFP rep for caterpillar but had newer generation of trucks. I do know like in civilian Top Kicks back in the day this light would always be on
Anyone have the issue on their FMTV where the temp is 195 and high temp light staying on? Had a issue with air leak at front emergency glad hand and fixed that but temp stays at 195 with light still on.
Anyone have a rear end (rear-rear or front rear) assembly? i have one that is making a clunking noise, i think the ring and pinion is damaged from previous owner. Checked u-joints, all tight and no movement.
I will try to get a video of the noise when driving. noise starts at around 25 mph and progressively gets louder at 30 and higher, then when you slow down it decreases in noise.
I lifted up the rear axle and spun it with truck in neutral, brakes released. You could turn left rear tires and here a slight "clunk" noise then the drive shaft would like catch and then start turning. Performed action on both sides. I have a few videos attached.
The truck does not pull to...
Well from what I can tell it did not pull to any side. The noise was prominent from the front rear end, like a banging noise from hitting something. the truck was just service and there was no bad U-Joints.
I removed the purge valve and cleaned up the bore, it was pretty tight with very little debris, I resealed and going to put on this weekend, hopefully that may of been the problem. I was told it would air up before, the desiccate filter was like new.
