So you want to buy a cheap truck from GL?

While that can increase the odds of a good truck, that's not always a guarantee of a good running truck. Truck in line 11 had a new or rebuilt engine, transmission and transfer case, and the injection pump looked new as listed in the turn-in repair report that came with the truck. Aside...

So you want to buy a cheap truck from GL?

There have been a lot of posts recently about wanting to buy a cheap Deuce/5-ton on GL that they can drive home. This morning, I previewed 4 M35A2’s at a GL location not to be named, and got to thinking of all the issues that new bidders need to be aware of Just today, out of 4 trucks, what...

    oscellating multifuel engine

If I didn't know better, that looks like pipeline pigging sludge - a mix of parafins, petroleum sludge, rust, scale, and iron sulfides. No telling the fuel quality that went into that tank over the last 40 years in the different areas around the world. Maybe I should check the tanks of my 3...

Anybody need a pickup at Eglin tomorrow!

He he - it's probably a good thing I didn't know he would be making a pickup there a few weeks ago.

Painted the 82 deuce today (pics)

My trigger finger hurts just looking at it. Looks very nice Bryan. Drive it while you can before the F___(Love) Bugs come out and mess up your paint.

Went to camp shelby here are some pics

The GVWR is 34500 so that should keep it under 50K. It can tow up to 37,000 lb trailer - but I don't think that's included in the GVWR. When the agent put the GVWR in the computer program, the 100K/300K policy was the only option. The policy is private commercial with no restrictions as long...

Went to camp shelby here are some pics

Here are some photos of my new 5-ton. Runs great, hopped in and drove it 135 miles home (previewed it and talked to the NG guy who had driven it), just needs a new paint job. My biggest surprise was when I got insurance from Progressive the day before. LA requires 300K/100K minimums for...

Went to camp shelby here are some pics

The biggest downer of the day was seeing most of the M35A3s, a bunch of M818s and some of the other trucks had papers on them stating they were going to Morocco!! I didn't think there were that many people IN Morocco. I'm happy with the truck, it only lost 3 mph going up the hills the deuces...

    Grandma's revenge

It looks like it has one of those little donut tires for a spare compared to the new rubber. Nice truck!

    Parts

I don't know if I want my Deuce to have boobs. Sorry you're having issues. I always preview my GL vehicles now after very hard lessons learned, but never expected you would have to preview one from a specialty seller. On second thought, he's a "used car salesman"- as many of us are...

    texas rally anyone???

Winnie is only 22 miles from the beach at High Island - worth a convoy to where you can drive on the sand and let the kiddies play in the surf.

    Hello from Havelock, NC

Welcome There have been a lot of vehicles auctioned off at Cherry Point lately. You are in a great position to pick some up easily.

I can bob your deuce in Houston

That was a nice one you had at the LA SS rally last month! I'm more of a purist and like the original style, but that sure did look like fun.

    What did you guys do?

Same here - sold some duplicate or less interesting firearms to finance my first Duece (I still have plenty). Until that point, I printed out the operators TM and read it several times.

1800 miles, no license plates, half a pack of smokes...

I assure you, no one thinks I'm current military - I'm old enough to have retired with 2 20-year hitches. Probably the only servicemen my age still in are high ranking officers, and they would not be driving a Duece in the south Miss summer heat. I see cars going down the interstate all the...

1800 miles, no license plates, half a pack of smokes...

I wore wear my baseball cap, jeans, tennis shoes, lime green polo shirt and overlong white hair yesterday when I drove my friend's M109 145 miles from Camp Shelby yesterday. I guarantee no one mistook me for anything other than an overweight, overaged pipeliner having a good time. Two state...

Another Noob Question on sales tax... Texas/Louisiana

You will have to check with your state DMV. Some/Many/All (?) states will credit you the state sales tax you paid out of state when you register your vehicle in your state. That credit may require a reciprical agreement, and you may still have to pay local taxes.

    Whats it like inside????

I've seen the boxes made of carbon plate steel and some of galvanized steel. Haven't seen an aluminum one yet. The ones I've seen have had the bottom of the box bolted onto the top rail of the bed, so there is no floor to the box.
