Interesting, the Gama Goat engine TM 9-2815-214-34 March 1970, GM Model 3-53 For Engine Diesel states " The block is bored to receive replaceable wet-type cylinder liners. A water jacket surrounds the upper half of each cylinder liner. The water jacket and air box are sealed off by a seal ring...
Started to pull items off the head to remove it today and I found what is probably the cause of the stuck engine. As you can see a critter packed the exhaust pipe and manifold full of goodies, who knows what else I'll find.
Driver's seat adjuster was froze so I took it apart, no real rust just super dry so cleaned it up and sprayed in some lithium grease. Blasted, primed and painted the used door hinge assemblies I needed to complete the door kit. Installed and connected up the rear tail lights I refurbished, had...
I would be more inclined to buy the red one that's been on the big "E" for 5k and go get it or ship it. I considered it but shipping to Maine would have doubled the price, you are a lot closer.
I'm afraid it may be the large O-rings that are around the cylinder sleeves and you would do all that work on the head and have it not work. Although you may pull the head and it may be obvious what's bad, it's hard to say. I was tempted to pull the head on mine but that thing looks real heavy...
60lb box arrived today containing a NOS Winterization door kit. Kit was intercepted headed for the Gilbert rally in PA. The drawing 11661583 showing assembly and the two door hinge assemblies 11661598-1(-2) were missing. I have a pair of old hinge assemblies I can clean up and use but if...
Installed the center u-joint today, a trial in patience for sure given the tight quarters and the rear steering slip shaft. Also secured the carrier steering box cover with new hardware received today, 1/4-20x3/4.
TIP: The DA Pam 750-31 talks about checking the u-joints to make sure they are...
Parts manual does not show any screws, it has a channel in the foam that sits on top of the WS frame. I bet a piece of 1/2" foam pipe insulation shaved to the proper height length wise would work.
Looks great, I remember help setting up the old canvas maint. tents. If we were lucky we had a bucket loader to help, if not standing on top of the 5 ton cargo cover was the norm. Of course uncle sam had plenty of privates at his disposal.
When you replace the fuel filters you need to fill the canister with fuel, as much as it will take before you put the can back on. It doesn't have an electric fuel pump, it has a mechanical pump and without fuel in the filter canisters it may never prime. You may also want to check the air...
Installed the new tractor to carrier brake lines, blasted the carrier wiring harness connector with plastic media to clean it up. That finished up what was needed to be able to connect the carrier back to the tractor. Enlisted the help of my son and we attached the carrier, a little tedious...
