I think it is going to be difficult, if not impossible, to find a 53' foot trailer that only weights 8,000 lbs. Most will be about 12,000 lbs.
The Fontaine revolution 52, which is advertised as the lightest flatbed, weighs in at 8,700 lbs but us only 48 feet.
So think new, expensive commercial...
The first thing you should do is download a copy of the Allison operators manual and the mechanics tips.
When you drive a allison equipped truck you should not change the throttle position until you have reached your desired speed. When taking off from a stop you bring the RPM's up to 200...
I have seen this many times out here where they want a particular vehicle at some out of the way location and do not want to pay for the transportation costs.
It can easily cost $600 a day to have a vehicle hauled to and from the location.
Any legitimate company will provide the vehicle...
At 43,200 lbs and 51.2' it is possible but you will need a light tractor and trailer. You will probably end up with a 53' flatbed. Properly specked they can haul up to about 46,000 and still be under 80,000, it might be a little tricky to get the axle weights correct.
You need to get a trip permit for the truck and a insurance card that has the trucks vin number listed.
Flat towing the truck would require a class a CDL.
How are you going to actuate the brakes on the truck?
How are you going to get the spring brakes to release?
What size are the beds?
How tall is the storage below the bottom bed?
What is the headroom on the lower and upper bunk?
On the bottom bunk is there going to be a back support to make it into a couch?
I like the addition of the top bunk. I built a futon in the front of my S-280, but I am...
There is a possibility that the reason the city will not do any paperwork is they know there are issues with the ownership.
How would you like it if some one from the city made your vehicles disappear?
Some of the siren/ PA systems have a internal jumper that can be set to disable the siren. This is for installing the system on a work truck. If your unit has such a device you could wire it to a remote switch so that the siren is disabled but the pan and horn functions work.
My works truck has...
It is supposed to be lowest qualified bidder, but the government makes it almost impossible to disqualify a bidder even if they already have a dozen defaulted contract with the goverment and have never built what they are currently bidding on.
The trailer is an old A1 and does not have surge brakes.
After I installed the heim joints I was surprised at how easy it was to dump.
The trailer pivots on the tires so you are only lifting a small portion of the load. The portion behind the axle acts as a counter weight for most of weight...
I had thought about it years ago but I found that if the trailer is evenly loaded it is quite well balanced and dumps very easily. I use a 6 foot digging bar for leverage. I run it through one of the front shackles and put the tip between the spring and the front hanger by the pivot point...
After 14 or so years the arms on the cast spring hangers finally cracked
The repair involved cutting off the broken stubs
Plates were fabricated to mount the heim joints to the frame
The repaired trailer back in action
