Service and support for local action? They will be used. We were loaning out 880s back in 1988 when on TDY. If they run, they will be used on reserve duty.
How about using backup light circuit for electric brakes? I don't know of any trailers having backup lights. Good for 15 amps. It has 12/24 volt constant for the battery brake backup. Hazard if used outside of my design is 12 volts applied to backup lights, should pose no hazard. Just no brakes.
Yes, you can. No need to measure current, just measure resistance of a bulb and swap in resistors over the cathode and anode of the LED. Better yet, use two LEDs, reverse biased to prevent polarity issues. One LED will illuminate regardless of the installation. But realize you need at least...
Flushed the cooling system. Used Blue Devil which can be left in 3-5 days so hoping for no freezing weather. There is some debris on the tube ends so hopefully this elixir will clean the nasties. No oil, minimal rust. I replaced the o-rings on the engine oil cooler lines, no leaks so far.
Yes, I recommend it as this is some kind of glycol ether, possibly a crown ether. So it has impressive cetane index with all that oxygen in this hydrocarbon. It really dissolves diesel varnish, also great on carb overhauls. Just don't use it as a gasoline additive. They make a product for...
I was half awake when I filled the fuel tank..been using Diesel Mechanic in a Bottle to clean the fuel system for a month. One ounce per 10 gallons, not hard. Why I dosed 6 ounces is yet unexplained. I fall on the excuse of working 55 hour weeks..nights at that too.
The 1031 has never run...
48 cubic millimeters per stroke at 3600 RPM and a brake specific fuel consumption of 0.465 pounds per horsepower hour is worth about 160 HP. Depending on fuel density etc.
Still don't know if the BSFC numbers are net or gross. Do know keeping engine speed below 2400 RPM makes the BSFC in the...
What have you done to the 1008 alternators? The stock voltage regulators are set for flooded cell batteries. Delco 27 SI rated at 100 amperes into 12.8 volts with 14.4 volts normally (voltage drops with increasing temperature).
Power output varies greatly depending on the measurement conditions. Cold, dry air at sea level is optimum, hot, humid and high elevation are worst.
The military used hot, humid and high for output of military standard engines. If I recall, 10k feet above sea level and 110 F was the standard...
For water injection, I will need two parameters, engine speed and throttle position, both with 0-5 volt analog output. The latter is easy, GM part 10137417 will fit in place of the throttle vacuum regulator (and will be needed for the eventual 4L80E).
For engine speed, I am thinking of using...
50 amperes is a good rate for 100+ amp hour batteries. It will heat batteries so be careful that it is a flooded cell type charger.
Monitor voltage over a charge cycle, anything over 28.8 could cause damage.
Thermostat is working fine, so far. I am more interested in the EGTs, been seeing momentary spikes past 1100 but no black smoke. This is with the HPCA solenoid always engaged which should be good for 4-5 degrees of advanced timing. Factory mark on pump is lined up with the mark on the engine...
Most importantly, CLEAN!!! No abrasives, ever. Diesel Mechanic in a Bottle, xylene, toluene, acetone or carb cleaner are the best solvents to clean, reassemble using kerosene or bio free diesel.
Getting the metering sleeve, plunger and hydraulic head aligned can be tricky, test fit the...
Horns. Got tired of monotone. Dr Evil's empire had a $17 and change sale on Hella dual tone so I splurged. Yes, much better. Kept the original so it is tri tone. Poor relay has to submit to my driving editorials.
