Copy that, working 11 hour shifts now so limited time. Going to use a rope mockup for hose length measurements.
No leaks in the system after a full temp run.
One thing to consider is safety. A 32 year old vehicle without ABS and SRS doing 75 MPH towing a 7000 pound 26 foot kite is going to be a challenge with automobile traffic. Best bet is to find the first JB Hunt rig and slide in 4 seconds aft of his six. In stock form, you will have the same...
The magic elixir to cure this problem is Diesel Mechanic in a Bottle. Apply full strength to the gummed parts and let it work for half an hour. Then try moving the control lever. Repeat until free.
I want to make an adapter for the military trailer lights to 7 and 4 pole receptacles. I have the connector off a trailer and have labeled the wires..but I want to find correct poles in the military for trailer brakes and power. Add that and it will be stock looking yet functional.
Great choice. Detroits are strong like bull. Gov locks are hand grenades. I just found out the Detroit design is pre WWII. Hard to beat time proven designs.
Its no magic. Just an overrunning clutch which works in either direction. But if the wheel that is getting torque slips, the other...
Installed with a few issues. Sure enough, the governor is a problem. Needed a 1/4" NPT nipple and coupling. Had a hydraulic nipple and brass coupling so corrosion may be an issue. Trying to find aluminum.
This mod also needs a longer driver side hose. I switched them, routing the...
Didn't have enough alum to dissolve the broken bolt in the crossover to thermostats cover. Its a 10-1.5 metric so helicoil fixed. Got the Paradox rear coolant bypass installed. Needed a 1/4" NPT nipple and coupling to clear the governor for the PTO generator.
I had to swap lines due to this...
Pulled the coolant crossover/thermostat housing to remove the broken bolt. I had drilled it out 1/4" to through bolt/nut as a stopgap measure, now it is boiling in alum (potassium aluminum sulfate) which dissolves iron but is harmless to aluminum. It is working, just a bit too slow.
I...
I concur on the hitch. I too got mine from Amazon but paid 8x more. All welded Draw Tite 41938. Only had to drill 4 holes and relocate the spare tire carrier. It is a Class V at 15k with weight dist, 12k without.
And yet another issue..my electric air conditioning system sprung a leak, leading me to abandon it. Not needed much this time of year so I have time to plan.
This AC runs on the 24 volt system, driving a standard automotive compressor direct drive from a brush type permanent magnet motor. It...
Back to the future..the AC developed a leak in the high pressure hose so that will need to be replaced. So I have time to upgrade..first will be converting from a cycling system to a variable speed compressor. Why? Automotive AC compressors are designed to run at varying speeds which varies...
Yep. Single now and got lots of vacation, paid time off and unpaid time off. Plus I have spending cash..if you couldn't tell. I get plenty of ideas at work.."..wow, aftermarket heated seats? How about leather?".
5 months? Should have the AC running again. And a paint job. Now after the...
Don't forget the starter. Cranking RPM falls as they age. 27MT have bushing bearings, when they get sloppy, they drag. Brushes wear, limiting current. Spinning a diesel is the key to starting. Starters degrade imperceptibly. Keep them spinning.
I replaced the air cleaner to intake manifold gasket ;)
Don 't laugh, I'm working 5-11s now thanks to the season of getting. No time to do much.
What I have planned after Festivus are the following:
Thermostat replace
Coolant bypass/vent
Injection pump timing bump
Cooling system flush
Intake...
I would rather have a twitchy feel than dead for now. I'm an attentive driver, all these new vehicles with lane departure sensors are making people lazy. Twitchy is maneuverable. When you try to make the world idiot proof, nature comes up with a better idiot.
Now looking at Stan's Headers...
I diagnosed the hot running issue as a sluggish thermostat, it only opened 3/16" of an inch. Should be 1/4 of the diameter of the valve, about 1/2" in this case.
When I was removing it, I snapped the upper bolt. I need the truck so I drilled it out 1/4" and used a stainless steel 1/4" x 20...
You guys are going to make me broke! I have to wait until next year to use my employee discount so I am making a list..exhaust, Dynamat or Peel and Seal, window seals/tracks..
I have the illumination lights for the inside of the box coming next week. Plus a Milton 501 inflator and Autometer...
So the Dynomax 89003 fits? Interesting option. Need to put that on order as the pipes in my 1031 are nearly gone. Not to mention ugly. Going to go with quieter mufflers.
I had one on the RF with BFG Commercial TAs. These are high pressure tires, the belts are heavily loaded. Age is most important as rubber cracks ever so invisibly, letting water in. When the belts fail, the carcass becomes donut shaped instead of a wide, flat tread.
I like it. Been thinking of doing the outer door skins in Dynamat when I am doing the window tracks. My door seals are fine, just the tracks.
The door skins seem to oil can so they act like drum heads. Also thinking of bracing them with some bent sheet metal, held in place with panel bond.
