OK - and now some answers -
I'll politely disagree with your statement about autos vs manuals. I've had two deuce trannies trashed by friends who SAID they knew how to drive manuals - never had an automatic trashed by inexperienced drivers. The army has the same problem, no doubt. Plus...
CUCVFAN - you left out slow - for those of you who think a deuce is slow, and needs mods - try out one of these big boys - about 42 MPH is all you get.
With regards to the brakes - no air=no brakes. I know a guy who lost a driveshaft - which took out the air tanks - which meant no brakes...
Rick,
The Muiltifuel burns diesel, jet fuel, home heating oil, kerosene (all previous essentially the same) as well as non-aviation grade gasoline. The gas versions of the truck, the most notable being the M36 - is far and away quieter than any of the others - but has noticably less pep - once...
NW Arkansas is the power washer manufacturing capital of the US - I suspect you are in a better position to find an inexpensive one than any one else on this list.

RE: I installed PTO on my M813 and now it
I know that Memphis Equipment has these in stock. The PTO fits a SAE standard opening, but I don't remember the number. If there is a heavy truck parts house nearby you they should have them in stock.

RE: I installed PTO on my M813 and now it
The PTO is shimmed from the transmission in order to get the proper lash of the gears. Sounds like this is a step that you ommitted. I believe that there is a guide to this in the technical area of the site. Definately would not drive it any more...
This fellow has probably used a winch hundreds of times - thirty years ago. Heck - I forget things I was doing a year ago! I suspect the shear pin sheared, as its designed to - and its about 5 bucks.
The cable on the other hand is darn near trash - it certainly can't be used as intended. My...
The truck is either an International or a Diamond T - its powered by a R6602 Continental gas engine. That is much less than I paid for mine - BUT mine was freshly serviced, newly painted, and guaranteed. Mine, like every other R6602-powered M62 I've been around, gets roughly 2 MPG - and will...
RE: Re: RE: Paint samples, decisions decisions
The FS595B 24084 should be darn near a perfect match for FS595A 24087, and FS595B 24084 is available from a number of commercial paint makers. 24087 is a radically different color between FS595A and FS595B.
The problem that many enthusiasts...
RE: Re: RE: not a good thing, m211 trans needed
The fellow that actually rebuilds the transmissions at Memphis Equipment is a friend of mine. He's been doing this for over twenty years - maybe over thirty years. I'm sure that they have a plan for the time when he retires - which won't be much...
RE: Re: RE: Interesting boom, M108?
I am intrigued by the window in the hard top. I've previously identified two genuine military variations of the G-742 hard top - is this a third? Anyone else seen one like this?
Regards,
David
The second paint you list is USMC color, the first paint you list is supposed to be for Army equipment.
How much paint is required varies - a lot - I put three gallons on a M170 (M38A1 variant), and a couple of cases of paint on a deuce that was totally dismantled. On the other hand, a M37...
I'd definately hear it run - and evidently I alone on this forum have no aversion to the naturally aspirated LD-465 - I wouldn't even consider adding the turbo.
Best,
David
I'll tell you two stories.
Had a deuce that would "run out" of fuel at about half a tank. The rubber hose that connected the electrice pump at the bottom of the tank to the discharge tube at the top of the paint had a hole in it. When the fuel level dropped below the hole, the gear pump in...
The ring mount used prior to the M66 was the M49. The M66 was developed - and even began to be issued - during WWII.
The rings themselves are the same for many, many vehicles - only the mountings differ. The mounting kit designed for the deuce was intended to mount the M2HB using the M49 ring...
