Replace everything that is burned and maybe even that battery that is melted on top. Install the starter relay upgrade. Have the starter replaced with a quality used or genuine OEM replacement. Disconnect alternators and test starting circuit. If good, then work on your alternators. They may...
I would probably think that the fuel tank has the corrosion issues and not the lines themselves.
Good practice to cleaning up an old tank is put some solvent in it with an old chain, and give it ****. The chain will break up the rust build up. Then flush it out before reinstalling. I would...
Just averaged 13.5 mpg with the M1031 on a 1000 mile trek. Of course mine always gets to carry the oversized aluminum monkey on its back with the generator all the time. Fully freighted that isn't too bad considering the 37's.
I personally think an NV4500 swap would benefit everyone in power...
You have pretty much the same system as me. You are not going to like servicing or draining bowls in that location. The only downside to the FM100, little on the messy side draining water.
You want an ISO flare, very common on Euro stuff.
Honestly, a flare is unnecessary. We are only talking a couple of pounds of pressure. If you get proper sized tube and hose, a good double set of clamps is overkill.
Most would go with the same size CV joint, 1310. Important part is Jesse does machine work so it can operate at higher angles not only constantly but also to a higher limit. The stock one at the max angle will barely bolt into a 4" lifted truck at ride height.
I would ditch the lowering kit and...
This is pretty much how everyone who lifts a Chevy (or anything else for that matter) does it which only helps with rear driveline angle. Even at 4" of lift, the front CV requires clearancing in order to operate at full suspension travel. A 6" lift is just sending it over the edge. If you want...
Super easy job, just take your time and be organized. If you keep the lines on the pump, swapping them on the bench is simple pimple. Hardest part of the whole job, leaning over the radiator support on your chest. I think I was sore for the following week. Get something soft like a foam pad or...
I have no idea because I haven't measured myself but a length at ride height, the yoke spline count at the tcase, and the u-bolt dimension is really all you need.
The truck really has no bearing once we are talking a generic drive line piece.
I think even with a junkyard driveshaft, it would be a good practice at minimum to install 2 new Spicer joints. Odds are at least in the rust belt that the weights have rusted off. Regardless, buying a custom made rear shaft is not going to be much more money than a junkyard shaft that is retubed.
I think isolation of the engine oil and trans oil circuits is good because you no longer run the risk of contaminating anything if the internal circuits fail. When you get into extreme climates, you definitely benefit by keeping the oil at the correct operating temperature. I couldn't imagine...
That post pretty much sums it up, lots of options and lots of write ups to help you either way.
Don't forget to add:
11. If you complain that installing a new mechanical pump is hard, you are just a cotton headed ninny muggins
Oh no...not the dreaded electric fuel pump controversy.
I for one like the simple pimple mechanical pump, it has served my use just fine. By searching, you will be able to find plenty of install write-ups of how to get the electric pump in and what to do with the old mechanical pump. I...
Best bang for the buck with an NA 6.2 would probably be to shed weight, add an overdrive, destroy the lethargic TH400 in trade for something with a lock up converter, go to a 5 speed manual, add turbo.
I really think this propane thing is a waste of time and effort for not much gain. Plus you...
I don't see any advantage to running propane on a NA diesel other than possibly gaining a more complete combustion process (which is complete speculation on my end). Without some type of forced induction, the stock 6.2 will only make as much power as the fuel you put into it. Meaning the point...
Pretty rust free truck for PA!
I dig the turn signals integrated into the grille like the quad headlamps have, then putting some type of aux light in its place. Hmmm.....
The 205 has no planetaries since it is gear drive. Even though the NP241 has 6 planetaries which is pretty rugged for a chain drive tcase, you still can't compare them.
I personally think your best bet would be to just bite the bullet and pay the premium for the NP205 the way you want it.
Fitz: Yup, all set with higher taxation only to be told that I can no longer have certain freedoms that we are suppose to have by being US citizens
CGarbee: Thank you!
What do you do for work? I would try to attend but being I just dropped $300 in fuel to come down here, another $400 for...
NH and ME are awesome! I spent the last ten years of my life living there and if it weren't for a new job opportunity I'd still be kicking it in New England. All of this with exception to Massachusetts. That communist state can burn!
The Mainship is powered with a single Perkins turbo diesel...
