Indeed, I once was. Lovely area loads of country events, Including at the former U.S. Airforce base in woodhall.
Now a very much restored museum. I must see if I have pictures, Of an attended event there.. (seems like..from..years ago).
There are many vintage car and military vehicle...
I still have this issue, have done all the above and fitted a new hydraulic head. Still the engine only runs above about 1500 rpm. So I am trending to thinking the hydraulic high pressure feed pump on the injector pump is the guilty component. Anyone any other advice?.
..I would have been more than 'ticked off' after an arrangement and drive to view like that. " care to contribute to my (wasted time and) fuel costs?"!
With the amount of slack you are reporting it's a wonder you did not spot the guilty component the minute you got home and inspected the steering assembly all the way through, with a helper. And if it drove so badly I would (perhaps) have returned after a mile and sent for a trailer. But do...
It is realy good to have a stolen item found and then returned. Now is the time to put in place ( a new fire extinguisher) and some ANTI THIEVING devices on the truck.
Again, recently..drove out of the workshop and parked up. Nothing wrong with that you say? Well there is if the huge wall battery charger is STILL connected. (A shake of the head and a sticker on the windscreen later...)
Fantastic adventure, Thank you for sharing it. (and, no mind the 'thieves', (as you are the sort who would have stopped and assisted, even knowing..and, correctly so. One of a kind..there should be more folk like your good self..And a real life lesson learned and good citizenship imparted to...
Welcome to the hobby..From far far away.but noting you are getting to know some good folks already. Post up the 'obligatory' pictures when you have your truck.
I was going by 'the sound only', and it did not seem as though anything was fouling or seizing.
If I was 'On site' I might come up with a different diagnosis. To this end, Fitting a starter motor that requires shimming I have not experienced. (normally in the past, I just buy them, fit them...
One of the reasons I went to 1200x20 tires. Better cruise at easier engine RPMs. But I still like to keep the engine at 2200, no more. You can cover a lot of ground at a constant cruise.
Thinking about it some more, Check with a meter if current flows to the starter motor in the no start mode. (clack nothing mode.) = solenoid.
current flows but no start (unlikely in my opinion) . = starter motor?
That .clack' with no start is a NO connection fault, either in the start solenoid itself, or down in the starter motor. I would not look any further than that.
Must be getting old (er) I am following this post with difficulty..what has a Curtis hover machine got to do with any sort of early 2 1/2 ton army petrol engined truck or a later deuce?
Are you bidding on an ex U.S. Army truck? or a 'hover craft'?
