RE: I have a
If you intend to drive the truck on the road at all, you'll want to change the transmission if you covert from gas to Multifuel (the Multifuel is used with an overdrive tranny). I've bought running engine and transmission combos for 500 bucks.
The water purification body is FULL...
Bjorn,
I am pretty sure that I have the original specs, and perhaps a useful drawingm at home - if you can wait a week, I'll fix you up.
Regards,
David
Hello fellas,
I'm writing from a room in Pennsylvania, with basically no reference in hand. However, before I left I email Bjorn photos of what I believe to be XM757 number 1, those photos may shed some light on this. I also have some photos of various of these trucks during testing - I'll...
The reinforcment is likely due to the 80+ weight of the weapon waving around on top of those three poles - more specifically, its probably due to the recoil of firing Ma Deuce, both in terms of preventing damage to the cab, and minimizing dispersion of the fired rounds.
The info on this is in a...
The transmission adjustment on these trucks is complicated. The TM that describes this is very cheap, compared to the parts that can be destroyed by improper adjustment, much less the value of your time/labor. I'd check Portrayal Press or Ebay for the TM before going further.
I know of no free...
I am on the road, so can't take a photo and email it -nor do I have my manuals with me, BUT the snatch block is even shown in some of the manuals....you may try browsing the ones on this site and on LOGSA.
Hope this helps,
David Doyle
I will sort of answer your question. When mine was moved, the quarter fenders and outer duals were removed, and the mirrors folded in. The warning beacon, which mounts to the top of the winch, was also removed. Then it was loaded on a flatbed trailer and moved legally across several states...
RE: Road Trip Update
I'd be reluctant to drive a M37 on I-40 from Nashville to Memphis (having made that trip 110 times in 2004) - however, there are decent secondary roads that parallel I-40. Most M37's are comfortable above the 45-50 range, and most truckers run I-40 at 7-80....too much...
RE: XL
As I recall, Tom had to trim the fenders to fit those tires - which he bought after giving up on finding the right ones.
The expansible van variant of this truck, the M791, was the control center for a Pershing II missile battery - truly a cold war icon.
BTW, when Tom was selling the...
Let me know what info is mangled, and I'll try to replace them. You should have also gotten some photos of what was likely the first XM757 that I thought may be useful to you.
Good luck with your project.
David
RE: Opinions on value of this bobbed duece
I am not about to appraise another man's vehicle - but I will say its sounds like it needs to have its sprag adjusted - which is a heck of a lot easier than replacing the transfer case.
And, I have literally dozens of pages of test documents on the...
Re: RE: different door hinges?
So would removing the gunring leg allow the door to close properly? If so, someone must have done a modification to allow the gunring leg and improve the door's function?
Well, if possible post photos - I don't think we understand what kind of problem the door...
Re: RE: different door hinges?
Not originally - the orginal pin is tapered on the lower end, and resembles a carriage bolt at the top. However, many, many of them have been replaced with bolts.
Best wishes,
David
Yep, it would be easier to replace the hinge - but if you have a torch, you might try removing the hinge and heating it, then trying to drive the pin out. As Kenny pointed out, the door limit stop is midway between the hinges, essentially a steel rod that is pinned to the door opening. Be sure...
Bjorn,
I have to agree with Will - the first injector is junk. The surfaces around the tiny holes are very precisely made - any deformation alters the spray pattern - and significant pitting is evident in that area. The pitting could be caused by moisture, either during storage or operation...
Bjorn,
Let me know what kind of internet connection you have - I have a lot of info on these trucks I can send you. And, for another couple of guys waiting on data, I should be home and able to send this late this week.
Best wishes,
David Doyle
As others have indicated, the "A" suffixes were model specific, not uniform across the chassis series. The tallest I recall seeing on a G742 series truck is an A5 suffix found on some versions of the expansible van.
Best wishes,
David Doyle
More than likely the VIN number of the vehicle is stamped into the frame near the steering gear on the drivers side, it will be a nine digit sequence of numbers, broken into a four-digit prefix, and a five digit suffix. The last two numbers of the prefix will probably be 40 or 41 - but this is...
