How did your batteries get "destroyed"? No fuse will help here. Best PM is to make sure all connections are clean and tight and batteries fully charged before hitting the start button.

Agreed, the charging current is determined by the applied voltage so you should be fine. The ideal charger reduces the voltage after a period of time to limit the current, but not the majority of automotive starting battery chargers.

The filter restriction gauge on the deuce will start to show red at about 20 inches of water. I believe that it may even be marked as to the calibration.

The fuel pump rating for the Stewart Warner and Benmar heaters is from 3 to 15 psi (max pressure). You should be able to find an equivalent over there.
