Any progress on this?
There may be a procedural problem here also, it takes a while for the heater to get going on its own (=flame detector transferring operation to the heater and turns on the pilot light).
You will hear the flame after about 30-45 seconds, but keep the switch in "START" a...
How did your batteries get "destroyed"? No fuse will help here. Best PM is to make sure all connections are clean and tight and batteries fully charged before hitting the start button.
The deuce starter is rated at about 6 to 8 KW and will not be slave started from a generator without fully charged batteries as a "buffer". Or did I misunderstand your question?
The HIAB equipped deuce is a very useful piece of equipment, there is virtually nothing in my yard (or a number of other people's yards, including BFR's as well) that hasn't been lifted or moved by it and Joel's crane is even a higher capacity version of mine.
You must have some serious...
My first consideration also. The resistor was overloaded IMHO, depending on where it is in the circuit, but could be from a "load dump" caused by a poor battery connection. There may be colateral damage...
It's very likely the regulator portion of the alternator, but it must be removed from the truck for access to replace. Cost of regulator may range from $50 to 125 or so.
If you have the two component 25 amp generator/regulator system, the regulator will be mounted on the firewall and can be...
Agreed, the charging current is determined by the applied voltage so you should be fine.
The ideal charger reduces the voltage after a period of time to limit the current, but not the majority of automotive starting battery chargers.
The device responsible for switching on the pilot light on the control box is the flame detector switch shown in the image below.
When the light comes on, you must flip the start switch from "START" to "RUN" without hesitation (if you let it stay in the "OFF" position for any length of time, the...
Do you have any exhaust when you try to start it?
Keep in mind that it may take over 60 seconds to get it running. Do you have the Stewart Warner or the Benmar unit? In any case, fuel must be atomized and ignited by the glow type heating element.
I can help you along if you give me some info to...
The filter restriction gauge on the deuce will start to show red at about 20 inches of water. I believe that it may even be marked as to the calibration.
The fuel pump rating for the Stewart Warner and Benmar heaters is from 3 to 15 psi (max pressure). You should be able to find an equivalent over there.
