Use DOT approved "air brake" tubing, available from NAPA. Black plastic w/nylon liner comes in the sizes you will need. Also get the inserts and ferrules and save/reuse the original brass hardware.
Well, it's a big one, certainly way over and beyond what's needed for a "vehicular compartment" IMHO. Even a little big for a van.
Do you have all accessories, fuel pump, control box, ducting etc? Lots of info posted in the past on these heaters and many -20 or -34 TMs will show the proper...
Like stated earlier, starting batteries are not good for deep cycling, so don't let them run down too much. A few deep cycles and they won't recharge fully again...
Yeah, cut a 3" hole in the top of the wood stove and welded a flared exhaust pipe section to it, which mates with a section of pipe welded to the center flue of the water heater. A damper in the original 6" flue gives some control of the heating of the water.
Water stays very hot, the over temp...
A couple of answers and congrats on getting it running. I love mine and actually like the sound of it. :-)
2) Is there a trick to turning the selector switch- I used a wrench to get a hold of the post, it's very "springy" and doesn't want to skip over to the other positions. I'm assuming it...
The "modified" sine wave still contains a lot of high frequencies, which you will hear as a back ground noise in a speaker system, for example. It probably won't deliver full power to your appliance, microwave or whatever, so go for the "pure" sinewave if possible.
You'd think that any motor...
Long periods of idle will create conditions that produce a lot of blowby. If you have to run your engine like I do with the crane, install a radiator cover to help warm the engine.
Blowby can be handled alternately too, the 8x8 multifuel, which was designed to run submerged without any...
When selecting an inverter, make sure it's a "pure sine wave" type, anything else will cause problems if you try to run motors (the refrigerator, for example). The 10KW genset on my 8x8 produces the best waveform of all our generators and inverters by far.
Don't run your inverter off a...
The coolant heater draws 3.5 amps when running, so figure several hours at least with stock 6TN/TL batteries.
Ideally, use a "marine" battery set-up where the starting batteries are isolated from the "house" batteries, which can be of the deep cycle type.
In general, the heater is mounted below the coolant system and its output goes to the top of the engine while it's being fed coolant from the lowest point of the water jacket. For the m809 series, see image below.
Note: If you include the battery box as shown, watch your temperatures as they...
This is how the coolant heater flow is specified for the fuel burning heater.
The lowest part of the engine coolant jacket is the input to the heater and the heater output is connected to the water pump. Flow is the reverse of the normal flow and the loop should be shut off when the engine is...
To measure a voltage, you don't need to disconnect anything. There is a voltage drop across the regulator of perhaps 2 volts (internal SCR) and you need to have the battery connected.
For access to all check points, remove the cover of the regulator.
As you know the TMs rarily explain the why something is designed this or that way, so I have simply come to the conclusion that being able to preheat the oil is the reason for draining the canisters.
The bypass valve is in parallel with the oil filters and is rated 15 psi.
I have measured...
As far as I know, the original filter canisters were meant to drain into the oil pan, so that the oil can be preheated (arctic kit). If your spin-on filters do not drain, then there may be a temporary increase in pressure across them causing the gaskets to leak when the oil within is at a sub...
We are a bit out of the way, 200 miles SW of Winchester, but if you need a place to keep it for a while, we have the space (and a crane to replace an engine if need be).
