Also, if it only runs wide open, make sure the throttle shaft is not stuck in the wide open position. I have seen that happen on engines that have been dormant for long periods.
Just a heads up, when you swap the flywheel hsg from a SC to BC, one hole does not line up, it is the bolt hole just above the cam bore. You will need to enlarge it. I have a jig to do it at work.
You can use a steam cleaner too, just remember to NOT direct the stream at one spot too long. I do this on dump trucks, trash trucks, off road equipment and OTR trucks that have plugged cores, had good luck doing this for 30 years.
Nope, it goes directly into the filter housing. Put a restriction gauge between the filter and turbo and see what kind of restriction is REALLY there. Spec is 25 in h2o max at rated load and speed
