I couldn't find anything in the manuals, but is there a way to manually air up the brakes (with an external air compressor)? I need to disengage the parking brake so that I can tow it, but I can't get the engine started.
Thanks!
Is it possible this is caused by putting gasoline in, instead of diesel? I'm pretty sure I did not do that, but I'm just grasping at straws. It would have been 25 gallons of gasoline, into 25 gallons of diesel to fill the tank. I didn't notice any black smoke, or other issues.
Hi guys, I had a **** of a weekend a few weeks ago, and I need some help brainstorming what's going on.
I took my LMTV for a drive, about 30 miles on the highway. About 2/3 of the way there, I started smelling coolant. I stopped, and all the water pump bolts had vibrated out, it blew out the...
Yeah, I just got my M1078, and it seems like every week I find another rubber or plastic part that is dying. I just got a bunch of new zip ties, as I noticed those have started breaking off. I just got the gasket to replace on the air pump, that I noticed was leaking air. I just replaced both...
No, I don't mind. Do other people need them? Your post before made it sound like only once a year or so does someone come around looking for some. I took that to mean they weren't useful to other people.
This is a serious question, but may sound stupid. My M1078 is a '97. Would I expect it to have "earlier LMTV wheels", or would/could those have been upgraded along the way? Are you saying these might be old rim protectors, and I have new wheels, or vice-versa? I'm confused.
First one done. I've tested it, and it fits well. I used UV resistant black pigment too, to make it survive longer. I can't fully install it yet, because in order to use the greaseable feature, I have to drill and tap the bracket, and install a grease fitting. I'll order some up, and...
Yeah, I had searched for, and seen, a couple of the other posts.
From an engineering perspective, urethane bushings are made firmer and greaseable, ideally. It results in less unwanted give in the bushing (better "anti-sway"), but with grease can actually result in better articulation still.
Just weeks after getting my M1078, the sway bar bushings fell apart, and were soon completely gone. I decided to make some heavy duty polyurethane replacements, and make them [optionally] greaseable.
Here's the CAD model so far...
I 3D printed a prototype, to test fit, and everything looks...
Thanks. Interesting that some others had the same problem as me. It's still concerning to know why. Supposedly these were the right parts, so why do I need to cut a notch in them? Is that what joe would do in the motorpool too, or are these really the wrong parts?
I had the same leaky valve...
Rim protector issues
I picked up a set of these rim protectors, cheap. We have a lot of rocks here in Colorado, so I figured, why not? Paper inside the box says it is P/N 57K1996, NSN 2540-01-489-5928
However, they don't seem to line up just right. The install diagram (which is hard to...
Whenever my LMTV is running, the voltage needle is right in the middle, on the line between yellow and green. It seems to run fine, and when the grounding strap on the alternator was removed, the voltage dropped down to the middle of the yellow (which was the problem that made me notice).
Is...
The other day, I was washing the engine (after spilling hydraulic fluid all over it while changing the cab latch o-rings), and I noticed soap bubbles forming around the air pump while the engine was running (I started the engine to get some more air pressure).
The truck seems to work "fine"...
