Well, you could turn DOWN the fuel two flats to be safe(r).
Also, be conscious of situations where the EGT will go up - low rpm/high load/full boost type of conditions. Don't lug the engine, downshift, dont floor the pedal on long inclines. Keep rpm up over 16-1700 and take it easy.
When I got my Deuce roadworthy I had to go to a big rig shop to get it safety inspected. The mechanic looked at the drum brakes from the outside...from the back side...and then said "I wouldn't even know how to check brake linings on these."
I know...you actually need to remove one bolt and one...
1) use the torque that you already mentioned: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?152518-Rod-bolt-torque
That is the torque I used when I put the upgraded bolts in and they are still in there!
2) the torque for the injector hold-downs is indeed wrong in the TM. Known error.
I know exactly how these two warm hubs bug you! I had the same happen on the same two hubs (right side, both rears). They were not "hot" to the touch, maybe "very warm" and definitely warmer than the other four. My definition of "not hot" is that I can place my hand there and leave it there. I...
Took her for a spin. 5 min into the drive, thunder and lightning started. I picked some gravel back roads so I could go slow. That means I won't get water sprayed from the windshield frame gap (see, that's a true Deuce master thinking, right there!). Saw a guy walking in the middle of nowhere in...
Thanks to Gerhard's link it seems that this is indeed in the old Studebaker stamping plant in South Bend, IN. Used until 1999 by various companies and finally torn down in 2006. That makes it entirely possible that these could be engine/tranny combos from the A2 trucks that gave their life to...
That long bed is certainly cool. And it is half of a drop side. Steel hardtop is desirable. But the interior shows...umm...signs of use and would ...umm...greatly benefit from a few easy to replace parts! A great time to think about a few mods you know you would love to make anyway, such as...
I was idly watching a couple of videos when this one caught my eye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h5J3eJGmfE
Watch 1:53 - 2:03 and I dare you to tell me you would not be all over this place with a pallet jack, a wrecker and ten Deuces to haul the loot away!!
As usual, not one shred of useful...
While the original intent may have been emissions only, there is absolutely no doubt that turbocharged multifuels are a lot more...agile. The turbo pushes more air in, making for a cleaner burn. It also allows you to add more fuel, resulting in more power. Turbo Deuces are louder, but a simple...
Since you ask about measurements: My experience with three shops in the area was not good. I ended up with new heads because it was the least hassle.
None of the shops was comfortable "just doing it". I handed them copies of the relevant TM pages out of the LDS repair manual (which I thought...
Drove Queen Lola to work this morning. It was not entirely by choice, but there are days where the 45 year old army truck appears to be the most reliable means of transportation. I was working on my wife's Subaru yesterday and broke a caliper bracket bolt. Until I can replace that and put it all...
There are no visible leaks underneath. That can't be right! Looks downright unhealthy!
Looks like someone partially pulled that radiator. The bumper looks level, so it is the rad that's crooked. M36 are practical if you put an S-280 shelter in the bed for camping purposes; you have room enough...
