Looks sharp! :-)
I do find though that the open sides cause a lot of turbulence that is hard on the cargo cover when driving down the road. I usually have it on and closed or completely off. Bikini looks cool at a show, though.
I have the steel water can in the holder on the driver side and...
Since there is no other bracket that holds the steering column, "neutal" is actually not that easy to determine. When you unlock the bottom clip of the bracket, the steering column is only supported by the steering box - quite the long lever! I would therefore assume that moving the column a tad...
"More space behind the steering wheel - move the steering column bracket higher"
This advice has come up a few times in different threads. I decided to investigate whether this really works.
Description of the setup:
- the steering column attaches to the steering box without a U-joint. While...
Sounds annoying! Make sure you have the little bushing between the mirror and the west coast mirror bracket, both top and bottom. If you do not have them, all you do is bend the bracket and it will not really stop the mirror from turning. If you miss the bushings, try a hex nut that fits over...
I have received the parts, built and installed the unit and can report that the box I mention above mounts perfectly to the original bolt holes (using the original bolts, after drilling out the mounting tab holes a little).
This is one of the best safety and peace of mind modifications to the...
Depends upon which flasher unit you have. If it is a relatively new one, they have an internal resistor and work fine with LED bulbs. The older ones not so much. On the other hand, the newer flasher units are garbage and don't last. If you want to go all LED, the easiest way is to spend a...
I am with gimpy. There was experience with the WWII and M135 series, but the M44 are different in many ways. Why? Why the switch back to a standard transmission? Why a 12ft bed? Then the whole engine story... anything that sheds light on how this was decided!
Looks like clinto got them from White Owl! https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?24707-winch-mounting-bolts-for-M35A2/page2
Also, here is a handy list of all winch mount bolts: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?64899-Complete-deuce-winch-mounting-bolt-list
Here are two videos off you tube that show how dynamic that tandem axle assembly is:

I finally made it to a local scrap yard that spans acres. It has a lot of fire trucks, OTR trucks and all sorts of equipment. I found an air ride seat out of a late 80' International cab. Price was right, $50.
I wanted to make this work with the high-back HMMWV seat that I already had.
Humvee...
Good points...if the injection lines vibrate due to missing anti-vibration clips, they can fracture and leak. There should be at least 2 clips spanning all lines in two locations. If you are missing some, consider using automotive cable clamps with rubber insert. You can use two and fasten them...
Are your batteries tied down properly? I use marine battery terminal clamps. They seem to hold, once tightened. Also, are your terminal clamps mounted right side up (they are conical/tapered to adapt to the battery post)?
Hm. The tranny should run just fine, even for 20 hours. What kind of problems? Leaking? Difficult shifting? 30W should be fine. It is, however, thin and when I overfill even a tad, my tranny pukes it out over the next month, making a mess.
I hit the mother of all potholes today on a farm road. It looked harmless, but..oh boy. Anyhow, my height-adjustable HMMWV seat slammed all the way to the bottom and stayed there. It now no longer locks at height.
It adjusts height by means of two toothed half circles on either side that are...
