your heater core is stopped up, if the water does not flow, the hoses will stay cold. take both of them loose and see if you can flush some water through.

I believe it is #6 wire. you can cut it there and crimp it to a section of fusable link for some extra protection. Then just connect to the 12v bus. Use the same size fusable link that is used on the wire coming from the batteries.
