Dana 60 front w/ crossover steering?

what you cant see in the picture is the cylinder is mounted on tabs welded to the axle on the drivers side next to the spring mounts, so there is not side to side movement on the cylinder. With only one end tied down, the other was free to move in what ever direction the tie rod will take it...

    2015 TX MV Rally

I finally have the 'Texas 1009' on the road so I plan to make the rally and off road park this year. This will be the first off road test opportunity that I will have with the 1009 so I am looking forward to the event. I may bring a few of my remaining parts to try and peddle for gas money. I...

Dana 60 front w/ crossover steering?

hydro assist tie rod wrap fix If you install hydro assist on a high steer set up, you will find that the cylinder creates a lot of tie rod wrap. The cylinder will move up and down when turning right and left because of the extra travel that the ball joints have at the tie rod ends. This extra...

    Cold Outside Air Through Firewall

I would think the truck would not run for an hour with a stuck thermostat. Is this a new problem that only happens with very cold weather? if so you may need to put some cardboard in front of the radiator

    Cold Outside Air Through Firewall

your heater core is stopped up, if the water does not flow, the hoses will stay cold. take both of them loose and see if you can flush some water through.

Wheel Spacers - Aluminum or Steel ?

never used them on standard hmmwv rims but the flat ones should fit those also. the ones pictured in the last reply

Wheel Spacers - Aluminum or Steel ?

centramatics centramatics will definitely fit with the spacers. put them between rim and spacer. there are two versions that I know of for the heavy rims. one has a flat plate, the other with a bevel. bevel does not work with any of the wheels I had. (stock cucv, recentered hmmwv, and the...

M1009 will not run creates suction at the fuel filter

I have had new fuel pumps fail quickly. They pump fluid fine on an open circuit but will not push fluid with any back pressure. Remove the line going to the IP. turn the truck over with your finger over the hose. The pump should put enough pressure that it will spray fluid when restricted by...

    Glow Plug Relay Wire Corrosion

I believe it is #6 wire. you can cut it there and crimp it to a section of fusable link for some extra protection. Then just connect to the 12v bus. Use the same size fusable link that is used on the wire coming from the batteries. not sure what the blob of crap is, It was not on the three...

To lock or not to lock the rear?

get a steering box that is already ported. Then you can add hydro assist in the future without replacing the box again. it can stay capped until you install the other parts

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

sounds like a glow plug issue, the surging and smoke is the excess fuel burning off from being flooded while waiting for the glow plugs to get hot enough. my glow plug relay was only a year old and looked brand new. It had a lot of starts on it but not a lot of run time hours since my truck...

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

you would have to connect each directly to the battery. The only place to read 12volts on the back battery is at the battery. At all other points it is putting out 24V. There are other places to read the 12v circuit but for reliability I would go strait to the battery if trying to use two 12...

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

did you check your glow plugs to make sure all are good. I believe it is around 70 amps at 12V when all 8 plugs are functioning correctly. (not 100% sure on the amps) Are you still using the resistor. Bypass this if you are, it can be a problem also if one side quits. The resistor can...

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

I had this problem last week. I thought it was a fuel problem but ended up being the glow plug relay going bad slowly. Over a three week period, the wait light stayed on longer each time I would start it. Over those three weeks it kept taking longer and longer to start. It was now taking two...

Gen 1 & Gen 2 gauges, instead of lights???

purchased the tach from lmc, I use a Dakota digital ds1 module for an alternator/tach interface. Purchased the small gas gauge also from lmc. The other gauges came with the civy cluster I retrieved from a parts suburban.

To lock or not to lock the rear?

cross over high steer with hydro assist is the only way to go. need 4 inch minimum lift for this.

To lock or not to lock the rear?

I second the Detroit locker. It is the best rear locker out there. I have an Eaton e-locker in the front, fully open until you throw the switch. I would only put a selectable locker in the front. When in the mud, its like driving a bulldozer, all wheels moving the same speed with the same...

Gen 1 & Gen 2 gauges, instead of lights???

civy gauges customized your best option is to get a civy gauge cluster with the gauges. I did this and moved the volt gauge to the upper left hole in the dash. The gas gauge is the lower right hole. temp gauge and oil pressure are in the other two holes. I put a tach in the big spot to the...

    3.73 vs 4.10 th400

if you plan to go with 37's in the future, put the 4.10 in. 33's are about as big as you want to go with 3.73's and it will probably feel some power loss at lower rpms. my blazer was a dog with 33's on it and a suburban is a lot heavier. If all you ever do is 60 mph then the 4.10s won't hurt...
