4 inch is the minimum for the 37 inch tires without massive fender cutting. Repair and keep the 6 inch lift put the 37's on it and then check the measurements. 6 inch lift would be the correct lift for 37's doing serious off-roading. You would not have any rub.
The cross over steer is a...
I have the IR lenses in mine, I hope to get some goggles one of these days.
They are just for looks at this time.
With the lenses out, they are a low flood light and a high flood light. would not recommend using as headlights.
I have one side with high beam not working. I need some replacement...
fyi, the armored head lights get very hot. I have IR lenses in mine and I checked it with a IR heat thermometer and the housing was at 225 degrees. The center of the lens was over 300 degrees.
mount them where someone cannot touch them and where they are not touching anything else or it will...
I replaced the oil cooler lines, AC Delco from rock Auto. Almost a perfect fit. I had to make a new clamp on the end at the motor. The bends in the new lines made the old one short.
Been driving the truck a lot. I have been adjusting the shift points and I am close to getting it dialed in...
Look at PSC. I got the Hydro assist steering. The pump is a higher output but you have to have a remote reservoir which you can get from them also. Instead of using the hydro assist connection you can plumb the winch return to the remote reservoir where the hydro assist connects.
My controller only asked tire size and gear ratio. The first controller they sent me had an EFI program and not a trans program. The second one had a trans controller program but did not work. The took the second one back and reprogramed it and sent it back and it was still bad. One of the...
Got the truck on the road.
The parking brake cable works well, The transfer case brake it self rattles a little but does hold ok for a parking brake.
Got the transmission adjusted and it shifts well.
At 65 MPH, the speedo reads 54 and the rpms are right on 1800.
It has a little wobble to it...
I was under the impression that the trucks with the np 208 were the same speedo gear internally.
The 1009 has an adapter that changes the cable speed to account for the 3.08 gears. The actual gear in the transfer case is the same and interchangeable.
If it has been rebuilt by someone other...
If you have that much time to inspect, take a socket with you and just pull the glow plugs, wont take more than 15 minutes if none of them are swollen or broken off in the motor.
You will at a minimum know if there is a stuck glow plug.
If the motor is not on a good stand, you probably wont be...
your problem could be fuel delivery or a tranny problem. You just did IP work so most would trouble shoot this first, but a tranny and torque converter can screw up at any time.
You need to determine by driving it if it is tranny slippage or just a motor revving slow.
When the truck takes off...
if you are going cross over, you might as well prep for hydro assist steer. check PSC.

You can get the steering box that will be ported and capped. later you can get the lines and cylinder for hydro...
I would second the cross over if you can throw some money at it. However. If you can not get the studs out of the knuckle then you still have to get another knuckle no matter which way you go.
easy out, or drill it out and go larger on the stud but then you have to drill the cap and things can...
In the standard CUCV configuration, If your electric fans are 12 volt, they would only be using the front battery. The only time there is power being drawn from the second battery is when a 24V load is applied. In standard configuration the only thing that draws 24v is the starter and the glow...
adapter and housing breakage can often be caused by driveshaft damage which creates binding, improper slip length or the cv joint binding. If the shaft cannot slip it will push and pull on the t-case. When the front does not slip, the t-case or adapter will not last long. The rear will do the...
if you are starting the truck with one battery then you must have a 12V starter and not a 24v. They probably converted it but did not remove the resistor. go ahead and bypass the resistor its a good thing for the truck
Batteries must be in series, if you use the back bus without adding another...
Check your engine ground strap.
Sounds like your starter is not grounded. When your starter solenoid fried it may have sent 24V to the block and if the ground strap was old and corroded it may have burnt like the fusible links.
should be located at the back of the engine passenger side.
good...
you would have to move both batteries to the back to get 24V.
Or extend the cable coming from the neg. of the front battery to the pos. of the rear battery. Then hook the neg. of the back battery to the pos. bus bar behind the seat. The negative of the front battery would go to the neg. bus in...
I just purchased a cable for my transfercase parking brake from
http://www.controlcables.com/
they made a custom cable with shipping for less than $50
you could probably send you the old one and have them copy it.
They seemed to be pretty good people with great quality on the product. I had...
