just an fyi, for the 1009 owners not necessarily the 1008.
The reason for the tube doors is the same as keeping your doors on. These bodies are not made to run with the doors off. heavy off road driving with the doors off will stress the body and twist it. The tube doors keep the hinges and...
I did not drop mine, I clocked mine as high as it will go. I have a 5 inch lift. I changed the output yokes to fixed cv style.
If you do not drop the t-case then you most likely have to change the u-joint style. The reason for the drop is mostly to match the angles on each end of the...
I rewired my dash using a civy cluster so I have all gauges. I kept the light sensors and ran all of the warning lights into the check engine light. And yes a light will catch your attention faster than the gauge. The gauge helps to determine how bad the problem is but without the light you...
With the right tools it is easy, just take some pictures as you take each piece out so you have a visual reference when putting it back together. A steering wheel puller and the spring compression tool is a must.
you can do it in less than 2 hours.
ORD will machine your existing shift levers for you pretty cheap. Just send it to them and they will machine them as long as they are within spec. They sold me new ones since one of mine was messed up.
I have a twin sticked 205. Actually triple stick. I have the ORD magnum box as the doubler...
Is that a mile marker 12k that you are having problems with the solenoid
looks like mine, may have an extra solenoid box If you are in need.
or if yours quits let me know, I might need some parts.
I had re-centered hummer rims. yes the ring faces inward, on the rim side it is flat. With new pads it is very close. when ordering ask for a spacer just in case you need it. I did not. The spacer they will give you is 1/16 inch and would be all you need if any.
I did a rear disc conversion...
if you are doing a lift, I would go with the 35 to make your rpms better. lift has to come before tires.
no lift, the 33's will fit.
Make your own PVC bead locks or buy them from trail worthy fab in 16.5 inch size. Much better to balance.
I would not waste the time to cut the run flat off nor...
I tried. no way to fit the suburban motor or regulator in the tailgate. I could not find a place to buy the parts for the blazer rear electric window ( electric motor, regulator and cable that connect the two). I checked and you can purchase the new electric regulator for the suburban from...
Surburban parts do not work, I tried with an 87 suburban. The regulator is different and the glass is a different size. The outer switch and parts of the wiring harness are the only things that can be used out of the suburban. The electric motors are different also. The suburban electric...
check to make sure hydraulic park brake line is still street legal. I am not sure. I thought the regs say you have to have a mechanical parking brake not sure if that includes hydraulic lines. I am keeping my rig street legal.
On my t-case it is double sticked so I can run front wheel drive...
The differential brake works the same as the t-case brake. I went with t-case brake because the differential brake will have the tendency to take more damage off road. The T-case brake takes a much shorter brake line that is tucked neatly up in the frame and not hanging down. Also if you loose...
there are many makers of the pipe, it is a 16" schedule 40 pvc coupler. you need to source it locally. look at plumbing supply places that do large sewer and drainage pipe.
The supplier I used was ACT pipe and supply. They are located at the corner of beltway 8 and Highway 290 in Houston...
get centramatics, they work. My 39 inch tires ride with zero vibration at 75 mph.
I had balance beads and Hutchinson bead locks, truck ride was terrible and got worse when one bead lock came apart.
built my own pvc beadlocks, bought these centramatics and the truck ride is incredible.
you can...
this is going on a suburban?
do you have and over drive tranny?
are you going to 37 inch or bigger tires?
is it a diesel suburban?
If you answered yes to the above questions then you want the 4.56 gears and not the 3.73
The back spacing normally would be not more than 4 inch. however a tire that tall and wide will require a much different setup.
I hear you need 2 inch spacers to run stock hummer rims with hummer tires. Stock hummer rims have 7.5 back space so maybe you can go up to 5.5 back spacing but that is...
if you are running stock 10 bolts on a 1009 the 37's will probably break an axle if you wheel it very hard. You also need a minimum of 4 inch lift which also adds the need for cross over steering...etc. etc.
33 Is as big as you can go on a stock 1009 without lift and quickly breaking things.
most guys run he Humvee take offs for the price not necessarily performance.
They are more durable, they have a lot more rubber than civi tires.
They do not balance easy and they are not the best ride on the street.
you can get good take offs for around 100 each and like new for 200 or less...
here is what my 09 looks like with 5 inch lift on 39's using 8 inch wide rims with 4 inch back spacing. I have zero rates where the front axle is in stock location, the back axle has been moved back 1 inch.
The back fender is stock, the front is modified
