Well, I got my NOS wrecker light cable in the other day, and it is beautiful!
So tonight, I pulled out my wrecker light bar and tried to hook it up.
Hmmm, seems I have a problem. Not only are the pins not lined up the same, the connection on the bar has 3 round tabs to catch, while the cable...
I'm starting to dig around and get a feel for it. Drew, thanks for your and everyone that helped hard work. It is a daunting task for sure. The little tweaks made since the upgrade have made things even better.
Like the old turnovers, it takes awhile to get everything back up and functioning...
No sir, I don't like it.
I really appreciate all the time, money and hard work that went into the change. And I totally understand the need to upgrade, been here for 3 major 'turnovers', it was time for another.
I'm sure I'll get used to it, but for right now, I find it cumbersome and bulky.
ARgh!
I just came home from VA last night, I could have dipped over out of the way and stopped close to Neil's to get it, and could have gotten it south, or brought it with me to FL (Angie want's to go to the FL gathering in Feb)
Wish I had seen this before I left.
See what happens when...
Straight Jet A is a good cleaner, I agree carry some spare filters, more than one primary.
Add two quarts of 2 cycle oil to a full tank of Jet A or a quart or two of any motor oil will ensure good lube for the IP and pump.
Glad you're helping out! stay safe!
I've replaced my belt on the XM818 three times- once when I got it, once when the pump failed, and once on the road when another belt failed and caught in the water pump belt.
The first time, I loosened all the bolts, rotated the pump with a screwdriver, put the new belt on, tightened it up...
Mine was acting pretty much the same- believe it or not, it was a plastic plug, in the fuel tank, that would block the suction line. At least I think that was it, I saw it in there, pulled it out, and haven't had an issue since.
I'm looking for a complete rear bogie and axle off a Halftrack, the entire track system.
Does he have anything like that? or would he be willing to sell the halftrack with no tracks?
Nice M543 there!
Could be a worn spot in the wiring harness against the block.
I would also turn in the override screw and try to start the truck.
You can take a multimeter and test the solenoid coil. You can also test the harness to see if it is going to ground anywhere it isn't supposed to be.
The head gaskets fail when people abuse them, or the engine wasn't put together right.
I wouldn't trust the odometer. They commonly get changed, and not always due to rebuilds.
I've picked up nice trucks with 70k on the OD, and picked up dogs with 4k
The year doesn't make too much of a difference, these trucks were in service and upgraded/rebuild numerous times, so that most are not the 'same' truck they started out as.
I would say that a good running, driving, stopping truck with little to no rust through, pretty decent tires, etc...
Could be failing insulation, and with you moving the wire harness around, it finally rubbed through and is shorting a little, or at least getting pretty hot. Where is the smoke coming from exactly? The whole solenoid or where the wires go?
