    M818 + M348 model

Those high dollar M813 (and M818 ) kits are the only game in own, unfortunately. Since much of the frame, etc., of that resin kit was copied from the Italeri M925 kit, and I have little luck with the more spindly resin stuff, I just used the resin cab parts I needed and put them on the Italeri...

Junker to Jewel pics - diamond in the rough...

It was bought off the range as scrap metal, and thats basically what it was. I wasn't involved in that and don't know all the details, unfortunately. Another chap bought the hulk and welded up all the holes, then rebuilt the engine, transmission, and axles to 0-hour condition. He also...

    V100 mods

!!!!!:drool: Great score! I would love to find some decent original manuals for the V. Cheers

Has anyone converted a M1061 to dropside

The 14' 5-ton bed drop sides are still only approx 12', there is a 2' fixed section at the front. The 5-ton and deuce dropside trucks use the same drop panel. Cheers. Edit- Disregard, I was thinking of using just the panels, not using the whole bed!

    New V-100

Thanks Louie, I'll pass him your advice. Some buddies who work for alphabet agencies have helped teach him a personal version of the stuff we have been training Army folks on before they deployed. I think he is better prepared than most. Cheers

    New V-100

I had the pleasure over the weekend of doing two events in two days with the V. Pawnshop, Reloader64, my girlfriend and I took four vehicles to a local car show Sunday morning. The V was popular, but I had one visitor who stood out. Pawnshop watched two gentlemen approaching, and saw the...

    New V-100

The V tends to run very rich, thus uses a vast quantity of fuel. A buddy of mine who is an absolute whiz with carbs has tried and tried, but can't get mine to tune well and stay that way. Mine is an original carb, carefully rebuilt, but has some issues deep in its heart somewhere. I have...

    New V-100

Thanks Louie. [thumbzup] Linx, I feel the pain of fuel costs. I took three vehicles to this parade, it is 38 miles each way for me. The 1009 gets around 26mpg, so no biggie there, but the M931 gets between 6 and 7mpg on diesel, and the V100 is only getting around 3mpg on premium...

    New V-100

One of my dreams for the V100 has been to have my kids crew it at an event, while I drove something else. On Saturday I got to fulfill that in the Texas Independence Day parade in Austin. 8) My active Marine son is home for a few days leave before he deploys to Afghanistan in a couple of...

    Yet another texan

Welcome aboard! Glad you got that, several of us locally were oggling that, but none of us bit. I remember seeing lots of those on Marine and Navy air stations back in the 70s and 80s. Hope to see it at a show when you get it going. [thumbzup] Cheers

Here are M813/M35 and M931A2/M185 comparisons. Cheers

    M-923 A1 "Big Foot"

Getting back to the model itself- whomever builds it, you will disappointed with the tires as they bear no resemblance to anything ever mounted on the real truck. There are, however, resin alternatives out there that replace them for a nice model, both the Michelin and Goodyear types. Cheers

    What is this truck?

He is in the Netherlands, most Europeans generically refer to Deuces as Reo's regardless of manufacturer. Cheers

    5th. Generation Fighter Planes.....

In all fairness, I believe that is actually what SRJeeper said! :) As regards the expensive toilet seats and screwdrivers etc., remember that most of those items were a way of making masked payments to Lockheed when they were developing/producing the F-117 program. "The Other Guys" can figure...

    Armor/Cav Museum Stuff

I saw your post on that not long ago, amazing how quickly they can move when they choose to! Looks like your stuff will be in good hands at the new home though, so some consolation for your being deprived of your 'babies'. Cheers

    Armor/Cav Museum Stuff

Thanks for sharing the pictures Papabear. Nice to know where the V100 and other Snelling vehicles ended up (sorry y'all lost those Dan). Dan and company restored and kept it in such good shape (drivable), I hope the V will be stored indoors rather than suffering the elements. Cheers

    Bought an M931...now what?

Have you read the -10 manual? If not, do so before you go pick the truck up. There is a lot of information in there you should know before operating the truck. (No excuses! It is in the 5-ton Manual section of the Forum :)). The rear brakes will very likely be stuck, 931's really like to...

    Aviation tribute

I liked the Spitfire sequences particularly, as my dad flew those in the RAF in WWII. I noticed the Phantom doing some interesting () pitch deviations in the formation flyby. Cheers

    Batman Crew likes MV's too!

My son drives those for the Marines, mostly the MKR-16 tractor version (with M870 trailer). I had the pleasure of having him give me a guided tour of their motor pool last month. The truck steers on axles 1,2, 4, and 5; 3 is fixed. The turn radius is amazing for a vehicle that size. He turned...
