    Another M1009 Recovery

Tee hee! I told ya you couldn't/wouldn't stop at one....... Saturday at the parade we were talking accessories, that's a serious secondary complication of OD disease. You, sir, are incurable now. Cheers

    Another M1009 Recovery

And now its parked at my place, where I will be embarrassed to have my 1009s next to it! I will have to become motivated to clean them up. :) You got a good one Sid! Cheers

    OKC to Temple TX Airshow

Very little of it was bad! The Hind was very cool to see flying, and that one settling issue was all I saw go wrong with his display. I don't imagine most folk noticed, and he nosed into the wind to get some transitional lift and staggered out of it (good time to have 20+mph wind blowing!)...

    OKC to Temple TX Airshow

That Huey driver got replaced for day 2. Hearsay only, but I gather there was some "official displeasure" with the flying for day 1. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera out when the Hind almost settled into the ground on day 2, I'm so very glad that there was no aftermath to take pictures...

    Things done wrong

It looks better than my MERDC M185 with the 383 hood and front bumper! (Came out of the Army that way, ugly as sin, but runs great). Cheers

    New V-100

Thanks Louie. There is stuff in those photos that I had never seen before, like the modified mirrors, and lots of really clear shots of the nose art. Some of the interiors, like the tan one and the pink (), were very interesting. And yes, there is a story about that, and a general, of...

    New V-100

Yesterday I had the honour of meeting Vann, a Vietnam vet who has many more hours operating V-100's than I can ever hope to achieve. He came down for a visit to see the V, and as "forward recon" for a larger group, including Baseballump, who are coming to visit in July. Vann is a great...

did USMC ever use the M35A2

Here are a couple of pictures I took in March of the M109 in the museum on Camp Pendleton. This one has the markings up high on the box rear, which appears to have been most common, but I have also seen them with the markings down near the bottom of the box. Front bumper markings for the...

    M35 into m109

Just to be sure you are clear- The box version of the M35A2 would be an M109A3/M185A3. The box version of the M35A3 would be an M109A4/M185A4. I just want to make sure you are not passing on suitable-for-you M109/185A3's thinking they are the later style nose with Cat, etc. (Confused yet...

    Gun Truck for $20?

For reference- in 1/72 scale, 1"=6'. That would make this model just under 4" long and just over an inch wide. You can actually get quite a bit of detail in at that scale, almost all my aircraft models are 1/72. If you are older, like me, get a magnifier and a good light! :) Cheers

    OKC to Temple TX Airshow

At least the 1028 had the courtesy to do it's miscreant deeds where we ended up next to the Dairy Queen! Our originally planned chow hall closer to home looked very closed when we rolled by at 0330... I walked in my door at 0525. For a trip that began at 1830 and is normally completed in two...

Wing Tip Fuel Tank ID wanted

From a quick look, I would suggest F-84G (the straight winged F-84s). Cheers

    New V-100

Funny you should mention Chris, he passed through here not long ago, nice guy. We have some mutual friends. In all honesty, despite the early Cad-Gage claims, I don't think I would want to be in a V if someone were using a .50 against it. Unless it hits at just enough of an oblique angle...

M37B1 Acquisition. What do you guys think?

That particular one is a super nice truck and runs like a champ. You got a killer deal on it! And that's not even taking into account all the extra goodies that came with it.. [thumbzup] Cheers

    New V-100

In addition to B3's comments, it also reduces the overall height of the vehicle, makes transporting it easier and with more options. Yes, M870A2, I believe. They had a bunch of them in his motor pool, they have "locked" necks. I too want to do it all again, and I bet they will STILL have...

    New V-100

My boy just sent me some pictures of his 'workplace'. Most of them, such as their MRAPs and other gear at work, I wont share (sorry) so as not to risk compromising intel. The ones shown are innocuous. He is generally having a good time, as young men do, though they have suffered casualties...

    custom trailer build thread

It was built by Mpop on a modified M105 chassis. Very nice workmanship. Neat trailer, it was for sale a couple of years ago but we just couldn't get close enough together to make a deal. :( Cheers
