    Interesting Tool Find

The middle wrench is for the lugs, fits perfectly. Don't know about the others. I'll check and see if it'll fit the compresser pulley adjuster. Check tomorrow when we get some light out.

    Interesting Tool Find

Went to a sale, probably a year ago and bought a box of junk. I finally got around to going through it and found these. I might of mentioned the one tool, can't remeber for sure. The middle wrench works on a deuce. The upper one has a three inch 8 sided opening (axle nut). Haven't measured...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Learned a lesson, found out the dodge fuel filter base and the chevy fule filter base are aaaaallmost the same. Dodge = 2 switches. Chevy = 3 switches. Look identical in the pictures. Oh well, got a complete new set of O rings, filter and new sensor on the old base...

    Replacing block heater on M1009

Mine has one on the drivers side mid way down the length of the engine. If its like others I've changed, it should be easy, messy, but easy. Drain the radiator, get a drain pan and put it under the freeze plug hole where the heater is located. Usually some sort of bolt set up is what holds it...

Where do you source your parts?

Dot 5 at advance auto is 9 bucks a bottle. Same bottle at NAPA was 35 bucks. I found the dot 5 at all the local parts stores. Oreilly, advance and autozone all carry the same brand and at the same cost, just not very much of it. BTW I changed my master cylinder and bled the brakes for about...

    Insurance and Licensing

First off, I've been with my insurance company for 30+years, so that makes a difference. Second, they probably think I'm a little looney, but harmless, and I have a pretty good driving record. I insured , all 4 of my trucks. The M35A2s are commercial and I pay $18 per month as "Farm Trucks"...

    Horn stuck on....

Bart I have the wiring diagram. If you go to TM 9-2320-361-20, page FP-1 in the back of the book you should see on the left hand side the wiring for the horn. It shows two wires, one goes direct from the switch to the horn. The other goes from the horn back to a horn circuit breaker and on...

    Horn stuck on....

Sorry, poor humor, shouldn't happen again. Yes I meant the horn button. I just replaced my horn pack with out difficulties. If the steering wheel has been eliminated as a cause, the only other suggestion, which is sorry to say a real pain, chase the wire from the horn to the firewall. My...

    Horn stuck on....

In the center of the steering wheel where the wires and switches all meet to make wonderful noise. best place to have a short. Unplug the electric at the horn and check the steering wheel out.

    B17G Flying Fortress

My father in law was a pilot on the B-17 called "Floosy Flossy". He was shot down and spent a large amount of time in a Luft Stalag. Somewhere around the house is a book about the "Kreigies" (I think I spelled it correctly), how they lived and just plain survived. After the war he got called up...

    parts prices

I get what I pay for. I looked at a variety of parts, all the same. I never go the cheapest, something wrong with the lowest price. Got buggered too many times buying the cheapest. To high a price, nope, not worth it unless it's the only one around. Right in the middle is best...after...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Problem fixed Front D/S works good (knock on wood) found the fuel leak, pesky grommet up inside the drain line port:evil:, flipped it over, got a good seal, no more leak. Touch up paint on the varioues bolts and plugs used to fill all the holes left over when the antennas were removed. Put...

    Brake Issues

You are in luck. I just replaced a master cylinder. First picture is the one I removed and am going to rebuild as a spare. The second is installed on one of the other trucks. As you can see in the second picture, they aren't used. Neither is used as a vent hole. There is a vent that is...

fuel filter draining and it aint supposed to

I found the problem. If anyone ever notices fuel draining from the filter drain line and you've tightened the dog snot out of the fitting and it won't stop, it's the rubber grommet up inside the drain orifice (can i say that word  and not get in trouble?). Anyway, over time the rubber...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Rebuilt and installed front drive shaft. Tried to stop the leak with the drain line, no go. The o ring inside the drain hole is shot. Non standard o ring. I'll just wait till the new filter base comes in.
