I have had a vacuum gauge installed for years and 95% of the time the reading is below 10 inches of water. The indicator on the dash, by the steering wheel moves into the red area at about 20 inches of water.
Perhaps those numbers could be useful when comparing a different air filter.
Looks solid! Nice work, Duncan.
Will you be installing the fuel burning heater and where will it end up?
How much of the dash/instrumentation if any, came with the new cab?
I have a problem with the last comment...mine idles with a slight haze and runs virtually smokeless on the highway. The multifuel hypercycle is an uncommonly efficient combustion process and quiet to boot.
(Looking for something else and ran into this old post)
It may be worth pointing out that engine ratings are subject to duty cycle these days. From what I find on other Cat engines, the full power is only supposedly available at something like 30% on and 70% off (off=lower power output) timewise.
The continues duty power output is about 50% of the...
The center-of-the-wheel-anchors were supposed to be for tying the vehicle to a rail car bed or something, not for lifting according to the TM. However, they were also used when rigging for an air drop. There are other "lifting points" specifically meant for lifting.
The radials on your HMTT are...
Yes Patrick and read more about them in the PS mag section, I have uploaded only a few of all the articles I have on the optical "hydrometer"... good for antifreeze testing also. The specific gravity of the electrolyte does tell the state of charge while the open voltage will not necessarily do...
Dave,
Only the truck/tractor (xm757) has the rear shocks. They all have front shocks.
I can imagine that there has to be some suspension travel limiting means with those oversize tires. The original tires are 16/70-20 and with the higher aspect ratio are not as tall.
I'm still working on the mud...
If the solenoid has been questionable for some time, it would be a good idea to remove the starter and check the pinion for wear (as a result from not engaging the ring gear 100%).
Reads like a heat sink, should be aluminum for heat conductivity and used for small parts like diodes, small transistors etc.
Probably wouldn't be effective it the insulation is butted up against the terminal.
In any case, a crimping tool used correctly will do the job, wire strands aligned...
Get one of these, a voltage check may not be sufficient , sulfated batteries will still show a "good" voltage reading...the date on the batteries may be a clue also.
The only problem with soldering is the wicking of solder up the wire, which stiffens it and makes it less vibration proof...the wire may break under those conditions.
Using the correct crimping tool will do the job alone. The original equipment is crimped only.
