Help me troubleshoot electrical problems with m1009

You may want to buy a voltmeter or test light and start with get comfy using them. You may pull all the fuses out and they visually look good but that doesn't mean they have power going to them or power coming out of them due to a burnt fusible link or a bad connection at the fuse panel which...

    M1009 6" lift

I cannot understand why people do tcase drops at all. You defeat the purpose of a lift and you are dropping the worst spot on the truck...dead center. If anything, you should be reducing your amount of spring lift and raising/clocking the tcase up to increase center ground clearance. For every...

    New fuel pump install

Big tip: thread fuel line on first before installing pump to engine block.

Improve fuel efficiency in my M1009

Leaky IP is probably the throttle shaft seals

    Pull Starting a CUCV

You may be able to get a big recoil off some large power equipment and retrofit it to the 6.2 May require 4 people pulling though...

    Fuel filter base question

I certainly wouldn't classify myself as an expert when it comes to mechanical diesel engines but if you really had no issues with air in the system, I would think the IP is pretty much pooched. I believe a hard start is a symptom of a worn out IP that is bleeding down internally and not building...

    Fuel filter base question

I would highly recommend McMaster Carr because you can get the exact NPT size and barb size with whatever angle you want. Most hardware stores are only going to have a handful of selection which will force you into adapters or not-so ideal hose routing. Also be sure to not use teflon tape on the...

    Fuel filter base question

I have a full writeup on installing an FM100 with heater setup and BOM list if you wonder what it's going to look like set up.

    Remote-Mount Turbo

This sounds like a reinvention of the wheel to polish a turd. Keep the 6.2 stock and accept it for all of its glory, swap a 6.5 turbo setup onto it using junkyard (or junkyahd if you are from Maine), or swap something in Patracy said that actually makes power to begin with. Remote mounted...

What model K5 Blazer is the M1009?

I like how the government found the CUCV program unsuccessful. You can buy every model of CUCV for the price of one HMMWV! Of course as long as we are talking non-combat role. I wouldn't want to be getting shot at in a K5 Blazer...bad time to snap a 10-bolt!!!

M1031 Cold start Advance and ECM For Generator/Alternator

Fuel solenoid valve is the 12v feed to the IP which allows the IP to function or turn the engine off. 12v engine running, 0v engine off Your wires are not hacked, they are clipped on the assembly line and the IP feed (fuel solenoid valve) goes into the SECM box where the generator control box...

M1031 Cold start Advance and ECM For Generator/Alternator

Look at my M1031 build thread. I fabricated a new pushrod if you need one...can get some ideas from my posts. If you are having trouble with yours, I would highly suggest checking all of the safety switches for proper adjustment and the powers/grounds at the governor control unit in the SECM...

    diesel vs gas

Unless you are getting a replacement and conversion parts for free...probably better to run what you have already and try to gain as much in mpg's with tire pressure, IP timing, air filter, etc.

    Rubber Plugs

Thank you...I needed a good laugh this week!

    Rubber Plugs

Check McMaster Carr or MSC, if you can't find a universal plug there it probably doesn't exist.

getting 65 mph with lower rpms ( lift and tire swap)

I agree, a 6.2 in most situations won't exploit the negative characteristics of a 4" block. Be sure to use a quality steel block and not a cheap aluminum one. This is the only way to retain the overload leaf setup on a CUCV without buying a 4" lift spring that has an overload built into it. You...

getting 65 mph with lower rpms ( lift and tire swap)

I normally don't recommend this but if you are looking to retain the load carrying capacity of the stock CUCV 10+1 leaf setup, I would run rear steel blocks.

Minimum voltage for reliable 60g heating?

Curious how you refurbish something that is unserviceable??? You can change the electolyte. You could desulfate them with a fancy charger. Not sure what else they are doing. Hope they work for a long time...that is a great price for batts. They may be blemished or a discontinue line...that...

    6bt in CUCV

Part of me wants to go what a waste of a perfectly good 6BT to make something so useless but the other part of me goes...wow that is freakin' cool! Somebody spent some serious time fabricating to make that happen. Rock on!
