    Golly! (as 'they' say). That is one huge truck for a first one. As said already, read up thoroughly, Much damage can be done in a trice with incorrect operation. Have to say I do like my M62, so useful, so nice to drive, it simply just does have that "special" feel ..and presence.

    Nice acquisition, as said, Make sure the brakes work PROPERLY before staring the journey home. Is all OK, steady run home 1750 2000 rpms will do it. Take it easy, have patience, AND..success. Post up the journey event,with pictures of the truck when yo are able. good luck.

    These posts have prompted me (today) to fit ALL the multi fuels in our group with CO2 extinguishers, And make sure ALL the air intakes are loose enough to remove promptly. (they are also now linked to the engine covers by small chains.).

    Wow they are as far apart as peas and pies!, But the pinzguars are a very trusty and able vehicle in all environments.

    Parking brake

    That is what I used an my old deuce. For parking only. It works onto the foot brake linkage. On my other deuce with tow palm couplings modification, an air operated cylinder applies the brakes on the same linkage when the tow vehicles brakes are applied.

    I am curious to hear the response from others, But the vehicle should not jump backwards? and forwards? when braking hard in motion. Unless the body is loose!.     As mentioned you should be able to select gears "clutchless". However if you are not conversant with this procedure, remove the top cover and examine for damage or strained parts under there. Also check the engagement movement at that time.

    As mentioned. With the number one piston on top dead center, ON the COMPRESSION stroke, the rotor arm should point to that cylinders spark lead in the distributor.
