I need a new starter,
Should I buy a used one that "works fine" for a $100
buy one from a local starter shop not chines poo poo for $175
new one from OD roughly $300
I have never heard this truck run should also
what would you guys do????
the ball joints threw me off thats why I was wondering. Mine is a 8ft bed, my m1008 looks almost like yours but the 2 red one look a lot a like. weird huh?
lol I touch mine all the time.
But seriously I was under the impression that these vehicles were taken care of. Then i look at mine and everything at one time was touched with missing srews, or broken tabs or just "jerry Riged" It just bothers me. How much easier could GM have made it to work...
So are most Cucv's molested? I have 2 and it looks like both of them have been gone through. I can tell because there not factory screws where there should be and so on. When I go on government liquidation a lot of them look molested also.... Any horror stories?
any one?????????????????? I took the starter to advanced auto parts to test the starter still have no clue as to what voltage it is. So they tested it and it jumper way past 250 amps way more than a 12v but not sure on a 24V
If it just grinds going into 4 hi or low its because there not syncronised. Mine will go into 4 hi fine but hates going into or out of 4 lo. I have to shut off my truck and move the shifter. I have to do it on my 205 and 208 TC's
another thing I bench tested my starter with my 12v batery box. I hooked up the ground to the case and the little red wire to the big nut and taped it and it started to weld itself to the threads. So does that mean my starter is shot?
things did not go well today I looked at the starter and could not find any number, brand or anything so I hooked it up to 24v and smoked some wires on the fire wall. so I think the starter is 12v.
strange things I found were starter gear was not retracting and chewed 1 tooth on the fly...
I have noticed it too. I also think that we should have stickies and maybe people can write up some tech articals with picts; that can also be stickies
with the 24v thats what it sounds like missing teeth on the flex plate. but I did have my girl friend crank it over and I looked at the crank and it did move the crank a little but did not sound right. like it wasent fully engaging. I never reallly cranked it over with 12v so I cant remeber...
I asked him about it and he said he just had the wireing changed. this guy was so coked up when i bought it, i couldent have gotten out of there quick enough. seems weird that there is a newer starter on there
