How about fire engine red? I've seen pictures of them when they served as brush trucks and I always thought they looked sharp. Black soft top looks really nice with it.
Double check the bottom right lug that mounts the PCB. The ABS and PCB share a ground at that point. It needs to have clean metal contact all the way to the truck. Take out the spacer etc and make sure the ends are not painted. A bad ground can easily cause the PCB to "hunt" for one.

Personally I would change the oil. Everything in the engine will be bone dry and giving it the best possible lubrication can only help. Prefill the oil filter if you change it. Once it fires start looking for leaks everywhere, trucks and seals hate to sit, so you may find some new ones. If...
