Well today I just stared at my newly acquired deuce..(I owned many years ago) and pondered on all the required tasks to bring back to the "required" (my) specifications. Pictures and progress to follow. I AM glad to have it back in the fleet though.
Well you seem to have enough "parts" to make a good one out of the two. Good luck with the very worthy project, Post up pictures and write up's of your progress.
A thin film of Graphite Grease. (but!) IF your deuce is NOT fitted with the "air shift" engagement" option, (then) do NOT even trouble yourself to install them.
Great video thank you. I am in the process of fitting a rev counter to mine. That engine seemed to be going really slow and lagging from low rpm gear changes. The supercharger barley seemed to kick in. I seriously do not think mine would have been out of third most of that journey.
As a project I wanted to carry out for while I'm going to fit a military rev counter to my Gamma Goat, the gearbox goes in to the correct fitting on the drivers side of the engine just below the filter. And I will try to use a deuce cable.
Welcome to the site, the hobby, and the friendships to come. I have been interested in the Vehicles trucks and Armour a long time. I was to buy an OT.60 Skot, But the use on the road in this country is not possible now. (European law!)
I have owned the Praga, The Kraz,. And the Ural. Fine...
OK, FLIP the hubs and go 11x20 as in the m34 trucks. google m34 truck and see what you think. You Can go 11x20 in the duel stock format, but that is a LOT of rubber to be pushing around. You will notice the drag, the ride and the steering effected. Post up what you eventually go with.
Now I'm "anxious" as well! post up the details and functionality of the unit after you have it home and test it. Good luck. (fingers And other things crossed).
The wheels and tires are off an AEC militant British Army truck. And I made the adapters you see in the picture myself, 6 bolt deuce to 10 bolt AEC. How good was it that the AEC Wheels actually FITTED the deuce hubs perfectly. Made the conversion of the plates easy. Unbelievably the scrap yard...
Always pay what you Would Like to pay, and for the condition you would like it in. If then it does what you want (ed) it do..Job Done. Much satisfaction, no regrets. Does NOT matter if (another) one, two...or..three,sold for..x! YOUR satisfied. Enjoy.
Better now?...........Nice acquisition.
Ok that's fine, It is sometimes hard to follow posts while working (and translating) You might like this picture I have found of my "old" truck which is now back in my possession (collection). A lot of work to get it how I want it, and fully safe and serviceable, but every one here likes it, and...
I do not understand, On and off what?
here is part of my original post to you, which should have clarified my experience.
The wheels all Track in line now (like the Russian truck singles) sitting nicely at the outer width that gives great looks a good stance and handling. Both on and off...
Yes I single out all my (Army) trucks. It's Just my feeling that all combat equipment ought to have that configuration. Better easier and more stable steering, (did you ever see a Russian truck get stuck? or on duels? (Danish and Swedish deuces are usually singled out And have diff locks))...
