No, lightbulb synchronization does not show phase angle, it only shows voltage difference between legs. Phase angle is part of the power factor issue and that arises from inductive loads, like motors, transformers and some switched mode power supplies. Basically, it is the difference between...
I have no idea, the 1009 has a corporate (GM) axle while the others have a Dana 60. There are plenty of differences. One thing the D60 needs checking is upper king pin bushings and springs, an easy fix if you ever have death wobble.
For parts, you can look up the part number in the parts TM (-20P or -34P), then type that in to the Rockauto part number search. Often from there, more info can be had as far as cross reference...for the steering gear box, I did that and found this...
".. without major disasembly.."? Well, it starts with the horn button, easy enough. Pulling the wheel is also pretty easy. Things get interesting if you don't have a lock plate compressor but it can be done. After that, the turn signal switch comes out. Then you can pull the lock cylinder...
I was given a 12 outlet box that was fed off 10 AWG 3 C SJOW service cord. Originally, it was for a Compaq computer server. It has two 15amp circuit breakers, one for each 6 NEMA 5-15 outlets (standard house 120 VAC outlets). It is all surge protected (line-neutral-ground).
It was only single...
Fuse blade holders corrode, get dirty and refuse to make connection at times. If you can easily pull a fuse (ATC blade), that is a problem. It can overheat the fuse, causing thermal damage.
I've cleaned and retensioned these holders with good success. Just did it yesterday on the step...
I used my pressure washer. Start out at the lowest RPM on the governor (max out is 3600 RPM, good for 4 GPM and 4000 PSI) to reduce pressure to about 1000 PSI. That worked great on Timo247's 1009 but we didn't do it on the left side panel. Need to post pictures.
In reality, the two governors work with each other. Watt et al have written scores of tomes covering the mathematics of governors, all of which are too complex to explain here. This happens every minute of every day, generators are connected to our respective grids. Frequency matching is the...
Ratch, remember paralleled generators share the load because they are tied at the load terminals. And you have other electromotive force issues with power factor concerns, something that matters when talking about electric motors. Too complex to explain here..
When two generators are paralleled, the governors will then work in harmony because of back electromotive force. If set A's governor is sluggish compared to set B's, there will be more of the load borne by set B. Likewise with hunting or droop.
Yes, you CAN parallel a pair of 802a. But you need breakers and indicator lamps to show when the units are in phase. Say you have both sets in 120-240 volt 3 wire, single phase. This is L1 and L3 at 120 V over neutral (L0). The indicator lamps would be connected between the two L1s and L3s...
Paralleling allows for scalable power which is more efficient. More units can be brought online during peak loads, when peaks are shed, the assistant gensets can be disconnected and shut down. Also, it can be used for uninterrupted power for when a unit needs to be serviced.
On frequency gauges, I can still get movements that are NOS. They are super easy to modify to frequency IF the scale panel is good. That is the painted part behind the glass.
The movements are 200 microamp full scale meters (ammeters that measure full scale at 200 microamperes). All that you...
I use spray chain wax (motorcycle product) on assembled battery terminals/clamps/posts. This keeps corrosion to a minimum and less mess. It can be removed with paint thinner/solvent.

"Item is on national backorder, contact customer service for estimated lead time..." Now what would happen if they had a sudden order for 3000 of these? That might justify a short production run.
I went for a drive today in the newly air conditioned 1031 with the wife. I wanted to show her the AC and she was sitting in the middle seat, wearing a jean skirt...well, that under-dash unit really blows COLD , as in upskirt draft cold. She forced me to shut it off after about 10...
I decided to experiment to see when my 002a needs pre-glow..this morning with 50 F temps, it started fine with NO pre-glow. I'm going to stop using any pre-glow to save the life of the glow plugs.
