OK, got smart on it. Yes it has a day tank. And FL1/FL2 float. And 3 way valve. Pull out the float switch. It may have one, or two black floats on it. Check it with a multimeter. Pins A&B should be FL2 and C&D should be FL1.

The MEP-009B is one of the few DED gen sets I never laid a hand on. BUT, they all are kinda, somewhat , sorta, laid out the same way. So, if the gen set runs for longer then 15-20 min, its not a fuel shortage problem. If it wont run that long, try looking at the 3 way fuel valve. If its not set...
Thats bad news. The TM's for this gen set are not released to the unwashed masses. Its coded B and we can not post them here in the forum.
You said the set only runs on Battle short. What idiot light is on the Fault Indicator panel?
Much ado about nothing. If we are powering a 1.4 billion dollar Patriot Battery, or a Hospital using state of the art medical equipment, using Military gen sets, I really doubt that the power is very "Dirty".
There are warning in the TM about welding on the truck. Precautions needed to be taken to ensure nothing gets damaged. Probably disconnect the batteries, hook the ground to the truck as near to where the welding takes place are at the top of the list. I am not a truck guy, but I seem to remember...
