If there is no major rust, pretty easy. Two guys probably 30 mins. Hard top bolts, clamps on the air intake and exhaust. Soft tops even faster. The tallest item left will be the mirrors, so if you need more reduction you could remove them also.
It wasn't pretty but it allowed me to drive the truck over a hundred miles without incident. All of the force of these ends are fore and aft, and those bars only kept it from sliding back off the bushing. And they even stayed on during the press out of the old ends, so it was as the saying goes...
In hind sight it would have most likely been easier to disassemble the springs out of the way, however the old nut had to be torched off and being in NY sate and the associated rust, it seemed easier (not always the best choice) to leave the spring. Putting it back together meant turning the...
Glen, I am considering a purchase of 2-4 of the USSC Air rides. Can you confirm whether these have been tested before removal? Can you possibly fit 4 on a single pallet?
For a purchase of (4) can you give a price break at all?
I am located in Central NY, if there is anyone that has been...
I forgot to mention that these replacement torque rod ends SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the amount of "bounce" that the truck had while driving. Really made a huge difference in the ride of the truck.
Well I took "Clyde" for his first real work out. About 10,000 lbs of oak going to a sawmill show in Buffalo. About 200 miles and no issues at all. Truck did great. Only bad part was the AC crapped out.
Thanks for the feedback. I would have been glad to share its location as soon as I had been asked. Agree that the TMs are difficult at best, but they do get easier. Go take a look at the last appendix, appendix H in Maintenance Manual Part 4. All of the schematics and air charts are...
What does getting 2 1/2 feet of snow on top of troop seats laying flat in the middle of a 1 1/2 acre yard amongst piles of sawed lumber and all sorts of other stored items have to do with this post? I offered to go out and poke around for them in the snow before I got a machine out there and you...
Well its been a little while, and I had to drag Doghead off of his deathbed with a 117 deg temp or something....hot flashes, menopause....IDK, but he was a great help none the less. The job on these uppers was a little more difficult, really alot more difficult than the bottoms. But we got it...
Guys I tried to make this as easy as possible. The pressure protection valve MUST see 70 PSI to allow air into the accessory system. If it is stuck, you will not get air on the accessory side. This means no horn, no axle shift and MOST important NO SIGNAL TO THE GOVERNOR. You wasted your...
Yes. If your pressure protection valve is not operating properly, the "accessory" side of your air system will not pressurize. The signal to the governor to unload the compressor is triggered on the accessory side. This is also where items such as wipers, horn and air shift are tapped from...
Here is what I actually started with, this was the RV I bought locally off of ebay.
Ha! I saved the hubcaps from the RV life it previously served. I think I'll keep them on the shelf. The camo has really grown on me in two days, I love it now. The hood scoop.....IDK about that one......
I plan on it. I have to pull all the tires off to move the brandy new to the front and get two new to me tires on the back duals, going to paint them then.
Finished up the 3 color camo, I guess I like it? Its got to grow on me. Also put my 10K lb skidsteer on the see how the truck would handle a full load. 14K total between load and trailer and the rear of the bed only dropped 3/4 inch loaded. I love this truck. Grand total invested is right...
