The area of the spun brg wil haveturned darker than the rest of the castings. Take a light and look up between the rods and min caps and the crank. You'll see "stuff" peeking out the side of the failed journal.
If you don't totally flush the old green stuff out, the system fills with a nasty grey goo that is almost impossible to get out.
I would never put that orange crap in my stuff. It eats rubber and nothing mixes with it so if there are issues on the road, you are tattoed.
