Close it is a 4HN, here is one of several message threads talking about them, this one has pictures

I just had to replace mine a couple of months ago because the battery voltage regulator went out and cooked the...
I am fairly sure your generator has a Stanadyne / Roosa Master DB series (maybe DC series) injection pump, it should run with fairly minimal inlet fuel pressure (gravity fed), but I am not sure just how minimal, the common symptom of a clogged return line is that it will run for a minute or so...
Most modern AVR's will only need 4 wires connected, 2 that go to the F+/F- field exciter leads which go into the generator end, and an output reference set for either 120V or 208-240V which can be tapped from the main output leads where they go to the reconnection board. Other leads for front...
Wow 2 new people from my general part of the state in one day reviving old threads. If these are the main lead outputs it is somewhat possible to determine the ends of the pairs through resistance measurement, although it is a complicated set of comparisons.

If you don't mind it not being original you could likely install an aftermarket voltage regulator from a company like Power-Tronics, Inc. Manufacurer of universal voltage regulators and static exciters for electrical generators all the information needed for selecting the correct model should...
First off, hello neighbor, there are several semi-regulars on here from Louisiana, but only a couple from our corner of the state
second if it is not a bad connection the regulator is likely going bad, I had this on my MEP-701a last year, your best bet for finding a new one is ebay search on...
Ok, I know this topic is a bit sacrilegious to some, but I am wondering what modifications have you done or are you thinking about doing to your MEP generators to make them more useful in their civilian duties? I am thinking of things like, spin on filters, gauge replacement, adding onboard...
Derf does make some good points, if you play the odds in GL roulette you have a slight chance of getting a fully functioning generator, a somewhat larger slight chance of getting a generator that is functional for your needs (may have broken panel gauges, or similar problems that does not keep...
The big problem with buying a replacement generator end is that it often comes off a generator that has a bad engine so is itself an untested item. There was a member either here or over on the Smokstak board that tried to repair a 10KW MEP-018 a while back, and I think he went through 3...
Without knowing exactly where he did the measurement and which mode the reconnection switch was in that reading does not really tell us much. If it were in 120/240 split single phase mode then the fact that one voltage and the reading was line to line vs line to neutral, then the fact that one...
I will say that it does look military, I would guess 1960's, perhaps there is someone here that will recognize it, but you should be aware that during that era the military had no standardized generator system, so in the mid 1960's they started the MEP generator standardization program when they...
My general advice is when buying from GL don't spend more than you can afford to loose, while I have been lucky overall in my 15-20 equipment purchases from GL over the last few years a couple have turned out to be paperweights and a couple of others I have spent as much or more than I paid for...
I just bought a MEP-002a from GL that was a runner (mostly) with 2060 hours showing on the hour meter, the generator end is dated 1976 and has obviously been through the rebuild process at least once. Stenciled on the side was a "serviced" date in 2008. (voltage would spike on it, fixed by...
Ok, as others have said it is a dice roll, I have bought 5 or 6 generators from GL now (depending on how you count it as one is being resold as is). A couple would start up and run with only fluids, filters, and batteries, but all had some issues that needed to be addressed to be fully...
Well I had a little free time today to work on these new to me generators, the MEP-016D received a new hour meter to replace the DC one that was wired to the AC outlet, along with a few other minor things (fine tuning the engine speed, tried to free up the stuck fuel selector valve, gave up and...
I am happy with the Walbro, we have them on all our truck ThermoKing units at work, and the last time anyone remembers one of the pumps failing was about a decade ago, and then it was on a 12 year old truck, I don't know how many hours were on that refrigeration unit, but the truck had well over...
Here is a photo of the Walbro pump on my MEP-016d (I am not sure which exact FR series model it is, my guess is the model number is printed on the side that faces the engine). It may be a Walbro 5000 or 6000 series which proceeded the FR series.
Ike
p.s. yep, it is a 6000 series...
