    M35A2 no start...

The plunger was a poor fit in the bore, after cleaning, it slid perfectly in the bore. More history on the vehicle, DRMO took the filters out and the vehicle sat for months without filtration. The control lever was stuck. I have no question weekly running will keep this issue at bay. Thant...

    M35A2 no start...

Perfect. Sealed the timing cover and secured the injector lines. Perfection. All it was was a nasty fuel situation which caused the plunger to seize, then the button and retainer dropped out. These engines will not run without the button between the tappet and plunger.

    M35A2 no start...

IT RUNS!!!! Fatigue (or beer) caused two lines to be crossed so it runs rough. That is why extra eyes (the owner) are always a great thing. I need a cool-off period until we should fix this issue. ZERO parts needed, just wrenching and time. Two blood letting episodes too.aua I'm going to...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Transfer case in neutral, transmission in 5th and use a pry bar to turn the driveshaft between the transmission and transfer case while your assistant looks for alignment of the red tooth with the indicator mark. Use the starter to get the red tooth in visible range, then use the manual method

    M35A2 no start...

Pulled the head, the drive key is fine BUT the button and retainer were parted from the hyd. head. Plunger was stiff so it was cleaned and moves fine. Just need to determine the correct position of the control collar and gear cover for reassembly, my computer is down so using the owner's...

    M35A2 no start...

This is a 1971 A2 LDS that shut down and would not start. No fuel to injectors, I pulled the delivery valve and center bolt, good fuel flow and plunger reciprocates with rotation. Still no fuel delivery. Yes, I checked the delivery valve, it works. It must be the drive key. Full stroke on...

    383 in M1008...No Power!

Mixture is probably too lean. If it isn't blowing black smoke during these low power periods, it is probably lean. Up to you to find the proper jet size.

    M1010 is running

Slipstream is the induced wind from moving the vehicle. This will be the sum of the wind and vehicle speed, equal to vehicle speed when winds are calm. The design of the air conditioner box is such it uses slipstream to benefit, increasing the flow of the fans. Not so with window units, they...

    New Guy Here M1031

There is someone selling the MEP-003A engines. The governor is part of the engine setup, all you would need is a frame and throttle cable to make a great MAC generator set. Well, that and a breaker panel, probably a cheap frequency meter. The MAC series have no electronic control system...

    M1010 is running

You are going to have problems with that unit because the condenser fan will fight the slipstream. The slipstream will win above 25 MPH. Second, 8000 BTU/hour is far less than the stock unit. While the original unit is sized for extreme conditions and having 8 patients in the back (each...

    Hard Starting issue conclusion?

Speed of cranking is also a key, the geared 28MT starters spin the engine over a good bit faster. Wish I knew of a good source for these starters for under $150.

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

SECM flood lamp upgrade The floodlamps that come with some SECMs are wired without a ground, mine were missing the wires so they were useless to me. I found a useful modification using standard Leviton rubber plugs to replace the unsafe 2-wire twist locks with standard grounded NEMA 5-15. You...

The only real problem with using this genset for home backup is the connection. If you want 120/240 split, you will have to reconnect the generator leads (12) in a parallel zig-zag instead of parallel wye. See the Lima MAC manual for details. You cannot use the existing circuit breakers so...

Yes, analog computers can do derivative and integral measurements al la calculus far faster than any digital computer. Even partial derivative equations can be solved far faster. Modern computers can solve just as fast but you wouldn't want a 1 GHz computer with 2 GB of code where a simple...

If the system is complete, meaning you should have three boxes (controller, ramp generator and Woodward overspeed) and the relay, check to see if the transmission switch is working. This is under the hood, near the steering column. Other system malfunctions would present with different...

    Any Ideas

The only control on a diesel engine is injected quantity, pouring diesel down the intake WILL cause run-away. As will driving through a cloud of methane or any flammable gas in sufficient quantity. All diesel engines have a governor to control speed for a stable idle and running speed. Now...

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

There is a lot more to the governor than just a few lines of code in a digital processor. The original electronic governor is an analog computer with integral, derivative and droop adjustable. Plus it has add on ramp generator and overspeed protection. Analog computers offer much faster...

Trailers are easier to load. The CMV makes a great towing vehicle. Mounting the compressor high will open up a lot of space. A rear view camera would be great.

The hardest part about transfer of the generator, PTO and governor to another vehicle is the lack of wiring diagram (unless you are active duty military and know the publications officer well). There are interlock switches on the transmission (shifter), transfer case and PTO. Then there is...

How to unload a safe quickly from a CUCV

Accuracy counts. Bending driveshafts and crimping fuel lines with the forklift is a prime qualification. Extra points for breaking transfer cases and transmissions.
