Welcom to the hobbie and freindships. Good luck in getting your own first truck. (or two..or..three!)..Over here you can buy the vehicles, but 20 year olds can't drive them. Untill very recently I approached a new broker with the support of various military clubs, and and now we have a broker...
Check the fuel pump settings. These normally aspirated engines smoke like the devil anyway. Our M45 fire truck went like a train, and smoked like one. We fitted a turbo, Now it goes like 2 trains! less smoke, sounds fantastic. Fastest truck in our fleet. With or Without water!
Well I for one don't see any connection between the turbo and in cab piping. I'm wondering if pehaps you are hearing a waste gate overblow? That problem must be driving you nuits. At what (exact and repeated) R.P.Ms. does the noise "kick in"? If it was a saracen I would suggest cooling turbine...
That post brings back memories..Now all mine have pre-lubes. But now I use old fork lift mast pumps. I also got lazy and use (on mine) the rear drain plug for the supply, and tap into the first oil filter can.

Wow, Massive project, Good luck in you endevours, post the progress and finished result. Seeing all that listed reminds me..I should adjust my wipers sometime!
OF COURSE you can (and should) just buy the other half a Kat, or something,..and enjoy. Take her shopping when it's finished!. Good luck. P.S. I'm "old" as well..and still managed to build..this...below.
If I was to build over the cab, I would prefer a flat front, windowless or otherwise. For both looks and practicality. After all if you have a half way decent overhang at the rear, you would have at least 15 feet of very usable room. Just my 1/2 penne'th
Definately check the earths on the main lights to ensure they are not grounding through the signal units. You could have the lights on and with a ground to the battery with a fly wire to check that point ( at each turn signal) at least. Otherwise look for a possible short circuit.
