flipped the black out switch... now no lights!

About the 3-lever switch, always lift the "lock" lever first so that the internals are not stressed.

Cut open coolant filter from the deuce

The coolant flows from the top of the engine to the water pump (and to the heater and coolant filter, if plumbed in). The returns from the heater and filter go to the water pump. Follow the arrows on the heater and filter head. The inside of a filter element is always the output. Note: Some of...

    Deuce starter problem

Jake, the starter relay does not have a "spark suppressor" diode, so the start switch will arc as you describe. Image below shows the missing diode. Needless to say, I have installed one on the 8x8, since that start switch on it is a 3-position type with a momentary "Start" position and would be...

    voltage regulator for MEP-018A

Mike, I was able to repair mine by replacing a power transistor more or less by luck, since I had no way of bench testing the unit. I should have some of those transistors floating around if you feel like trying that "cure"...

flipped the black out switch... now no lights!

The 3-lever switch has a built-in thermal circuit breaker rated 20 amps. If there is a short in the BO light circuit, it will trip and remain off for a minute or so. This action will be repeated until the short is removed.

    HUGE KUDO'S to OD Iron

    Filter disks for flame heater

Sent you a copy of the MVM article..... Yes, I'll make the flame detector, don't have any made up at the moment, so any order would be about a week to fill. For more info: FLAME DETECTOR

    Filter disks for flame heater

Test your flame heater nozzle in a clear plastic bottle to verify the spray pattern. If you have an extra intake manifold, test the whole thing as shown in the image here. During the test shown below, I noticed that the flame is easily snuffed out by the forced airflow (from the turbo), which...

So, what do you use your blackouts for?

The lens part of the light is easily painted over, it should be plenty bright to see the ground at least 15-20 feet in front.....

    Wanted- trans. Temp. Gauge

Look for gauge 6685-01-098-5110 (160-320 °F range) and sending unit MS24537-1....

    gauge woes

The temp gauge with a 320°F range is for transmission temperature and requires a sending unit, which is different from the engine temp one and not normally found in that set-up.

How do I test my batteries?

It seems like the specific gravity test is left out more often than not, the only good method to check the state of charge. Check the battery articles in the PS magazine section, lots of good info. From what I have read, a sulfated battery can be restored to about 80% of capacity after...
