Plastic. I have had good luck using a razor blade held at a 90 degree to the lens and scraping it off. Follow it with a polishing using headlight lens polish.
Want a tip?
Get an empty water bottle...you know, the plastic pint ones?
Fill it 7/8 full of warm/hot water, poke a 1/8 in. hole in the screw top.
Fill the rest of the bottle with your favorite liquid dish soap...I have found Polmolive works MUCH better than others!
Air down the tire, give the...
Spark ignition is different than compression ignition. Diesel fuel pumps only meter a specific amount of fuel into the cylinder. Without increasing the fuel rate, no more power will be made no matter how "big" the turbo is.
BTW, welcome to Steelsoldiers! How'd you find out about us? Nice...
I'm guessing 150# maybe, with the trolley. Two people can easily ptck it up and put it in the bed of the truck. When I was checking the stuff out, I moved the rings by myself easily.
And, that engine weighs 2200 lbs give or take. Different suspension, better brakes and P/S would be a must. I agree with Bruce, too much time, money involved.
Well after studying the pics and manuals, I was able to figure out the mounts and got it up! Turned out to be the largest bracket mounted on the drivers side and no others, the ring just bolts directly to the arms. Not too hewavy, just awkward. I took the trolley apart and gave it a good lube...
Your M170 is basically an M38A1 with a longer w/b and tub, only around 4000 or so were made. It would be good for the hobby if you tried to keep it as close to original as possible. You can find repair panels at a few vendors that specialize in the M38/M38A1. Vietnam era OD looks very good on...
:ditto:Just do the trans to rear end shaft. The fill for the differentials is a 1/2 sqare drive, Bring a hammer and chisel just in case, sometimes the drive is rounded out. 90 wt will do. I can't remember if the diffs neet MT1 rated lube or not.
The tubes will work. Is it possible to incorperate a D ring on the top of the tank straps so a ratchet tiedown or turn buckle can be used to secure it in the bed?
That pic is out of roger-wilco 66's album link in his post, Lots of cool gun truck pics there! The other image is from the TM9-2016 that I have in front of me. It is a 5 ton with a multi in it.
I have a mess of logs and there is a bunch of wood at the Museum that needs to go. The are doing freeway work by my house. They have cut trees into nice chunks, that was done about 5 months ago, should be good to go, just gotta get there before they go home for the day so I can ask.
Thanks all! Mark, your pics are awsome and, one in particular, was a giant help! Craig has a copy of TM9-2016 from 1957 in the library, so I now have a mess more to go by. If anyone has a pic of the ring mounted taken from the rear, that would be the icing on the cake!
