If a starting system is cranked long enough to drain batteries to the dead point, the starter contacts can melt in the solenoid. Most HD starters have overcrank protection built into them now. If it was over cranked, the heat generated could have melted soldered cable connections too. Take pics...
The white rock lookin' filter is better than the paper type for the cartridge type filter. You can upgrade to a modern filter head so a spin on can be used.

That's funny. Your hoist is the exact one I have and you did the same thing I did...removing 4 inches from it. I use a 1000# chain hoist on mine instead of the wire rope and crank. I got mine from a military junk yard, where'd you bag yours?
I've seen those before. It originally had a top bolted on it. There were drawers with flat tops, kinda like work benches, bolted to the rails on the bottom.
Those explosions aren't from improper installation, the resulting failure is from being STUPID and welding on a wheel. As the guy stated in the vid, the reason thet made the vid, is that someone ACTUALLY did this. How stupid can people be?
