Torque is a function of cylinder pressure. Cylinder pressure is a function of injection rate which is limited by the injector nozzles and the pump. The stock 2-hole injectors cannot flow fast enough, even when over-fueled, without blowing HP out the exhaust.
The problem with turning up the...
Idle speed is set by the accessible adjustment on the accelerator input to the injector pump. The high speed adjustment should be capped off, sealed with a copper wire and lead seal.
The vent on the engine breather is normal, that is the vent for the fuel tank and the brake system. The brake...
Exactly. The timing marks on the crank need to be aligned WITH #1 in TDC firing, not exhaust. You will have to turn the engine over with the front valve cover removed. Once you see the crank timing mark, note the movement of the valves while slowly turning the crank. If the valves move...
Prolonged storage can gum up the control collar mechanism. This is easy to access and since its free movement is essential to proper injection quantity, it is worth the trouble. The only special thing you need is safety wire, 24-28 gauge soft stainless steel. You can check it without dealing...
All those hours I spent in the motor pool, sweating over tire changing using noting more than a sledge hammer and angle iron "wedges" because the mechanics said that was the "Army way"? And they had these hidden somewhere in the back of the tool trailer?
Where would I apply for compensation...
I would not use rubber on that line, it will siphon if it breaks. I have seen compression and flare as these trucks have been around. Flare has better vibration resistance. Replace with like materials, they are industry standard.
Yes, the engine has some poly lines but these are above the...
Definitely a pyro because any hill and you maintaining 55 MPH would probably put too much heat into the cylinders. Yeah, the turbo is a concern but the pistons are far more sensitive.
Unlikely. Most of the gear heads were in Society of Automotive Engineers at the university level. There are 2 major competitions where the students build vehicles for racing. The mini-baja is off-road. They are all gear heads at heart.
Then what is the fuel pressure? The IP has a gear-type pump on it which should produce 30 PSI at idle, measured at the fuel filters. No more than 75 PSI at 2800 RPM. The gear pump is easy to replace but a lot of times, it is the pressure regulator on this pump. You can find it, trace the...
Torque on wheel bearings? Never for the final fit. Remember, the nuts are FREE TURNING which means there is a slight bit of slop in the threads. When you tighten the inner nut, the bearing is snug BUT the nut is jammed on the outside. Snugging down that outer nut now forces it inward, making...
Do you have the TM? How about the Multifuel troubleshooting manual? Both are in resources here.
Check fuel pressure over the RPM.
What is the max RPM you can get?
Do you have a breather cap on the MC or an air line?
Remember, silicone does not absorb water, it all sinks to the bottom. Look for minor corrosion in the WCs.
Pressurize the master cylinder with about 15 PSI of air. Sounds like the cups have retracted back. Not enough volume on the MC stroke to reseat the cups against the pistons.
And a simple, 5 minute connection of a pressure bleeder to the master cylinder would have fixed the brakes.
I learned this helping TexAndy recover one of his. This is most common on trucks with the breather caps on the MC instead of the airline as the cap allows vacuum to build. This pulls...
