RE: Re: GA RALLY
Kipman and I swapped a starter for a set of heavy towbars and it would be a good thing if one of you southbound on I-77 could stop by and pick up the towbars on your way to the GA rally.
I'm 20 miles East of the I-77 in VA. Kipman tells me Gimpy may be able to bring them North...
Biodiesel will give you less mpg, about 15% or so off your average. The 6.4 mpg must be the mountains in NW AR, I remember going to Jason's place up there and then on to Joplin MO, lots of "hills".
The hose I'm using (from McMasters) is marked "Thermoid Flex-Loc 300 non-conductive 1/2" I.D. (12 mm) 300 PSI W.P. Made in USA".
My application is fuel so the temp/pressure has not been an issue...not yet anyway..
McMaster Carr sells different grades of this hose and this one is rated for oil...
Re: RE: Slip joint orientation
They are not all tilted down....
From the 2320-260-20 TM page 2-240, the slip yoke is always at the "power input end", so the drive shaft shown in the image from the transfer to the 2nd axle is not installed correctly.
According to the TM, the slip joint is to be installed "forward" when mounting the drive shafts. After a casual search (google also), nothing pops up to explain this, so why is it important?
I assume "forward" means towards the front of the vehicle and may have something to do with exposure of...
Thanks for keeping us up to date on your trip!
I realize that this is not the time to work on your engine mods, but if the blue hose shown in the image is your pre oiler input, then you are feeding unfiltered oil into the engine oil gallery, which may not be such a good thing....you should be...
Interesting, how much CNG is used in addition to the diesel fuel, how is it stored (at what pressure) and what driving range do you get with the system?
Found a supplier, Aetna Screw Products.
"The unique head design accounts for the superior performance of The Aetna 6 Slot GM* Type AA Hex Head Place Bolt GR.8. There are six slots on the top, a recessed center, and an undercut at the base of the head that meets the shoulder. This design...
Re: RE: NON-blinking blinker
This is the first connection to check, the case of the flasher unit may be plastic or anodized aluminum, neither which conducts electricity, so you have to make sure the mounting screw makes good contact with the ring terminal (wire "C" from the flasher) and the...
RE: Re: road trip September 23 through possibly October 4
Hey Patrick, good to see you on the road again! Love reading about your adventures.
Here is some info on the "push-on" fittings, I use them extensively for fuel lines without problem, so far. Note the detail about pushing the cut end of...
Re: RE: Leece-Neville 100A Alternator
Well, you'll "transfer" about 3 hp of power via the belt(s), on the 8x8 there are 3 drive belts for the 100 amp generator, if there were less, there might be slippage at full load. Don't know how the serpentine belt will do...
Looks nice, should make the installation easy. The unit with the separate regulator uses very heavy duty cables and connectors. Off hand, the terminals on the alternator pictured above seem on the smallish side...You will also need a 3-section pulley.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Kenworth XM1074 Test Dri
Very impressive James. The turning circle probably isn't too good or can you lift one or more axles?
