Every so often I get the chatter from the starter solenoid on the 8x8 and really hate it when showing the truck to someone for the first time...it just leaves a bad first impression.
Last year I bought a solenoid on ebay and upon closer inspection it turned out to be the exact right one for my...
I'm looking for one, it's used in the removal of the solenoid from the starter. This particular one is called out for the 8x8 engine, but may be similar for other starters.
Any leads would be appreciated.
Which model do you have? Keep us posted with the details of your trouble shooting, please.
I haven't worked on mine for a week or so, at least mine did fire up, just way too much fuel so I started to take it apart and checked the fuel delivery as explained above. Now it looks like the delivery...
Current draw remains the same. Like I said, the problem is most likely not the starter circuit, so why not use a smaller switch in a specific circuit and not risk a melt down.
I do keep it covered with a tarp, but will hopefully find a proper canvas for the unit. It's work in progress, so there are still things to do...fortunately...got to stay busy...
In general, I would think that the jerry cans are considered waterproof, right ..wrong?
Yes, hunt down the problem and to extend the life of the batteries add a maintainer/charger to keep them "topped off", which will prevent sulfation.
The typical current draw when starting is about 350 amps, perhaps twice that in cold weather.
Another little note, the drain is very likely not the...
Not much to add, but the tubing connection to the air cleaner is for the air restriction indicator, which is mounted to the left of the steering wheel and the wiring along the intake manifold (at least some of it) is for the ether start enable thermostat....
Based on the advise given, this is what I now have for the 10KW genset.
Also, the exhaust pipe was extended and exits to the side as can be seen in the second image.
Re: BACKUP LIGHT SWITCH
There is a rod (I'm sure it has a fancy name) on the top rear portion of the transmission, which moves a fraction of an inch towards the rear when the shifter is placed in reverse...I simply mounted a microswitch in its path to activate the back-up light.
Examples of boom extensions shown here, the first one is simply a wooden one made on site and the second one is a rectangular tubing with flat stock welded on to its side for strength. Reach was extended to about 38 ft.
Crane is classified as 8 ton-meter, so 1 meter out it can lift 8 tons, 2...
When something is built stricktly for function, it's hard not to copy somebody else, just look at components, nuts, bolts, the steering wheel anything that reached it's prime a long time ago.....
:-) Time goes fast, that was like yesterday....The 8x8 is getting the same treatment and already had the switching setup for dual tanks (truck tractor). The valves of the 8x8 installation is getting more attention to eliminate any pressure drop (high Cv value) experienced with the deuce and the...
FWIW, I find it interesting to compare features with what was designed into the 1960's M656 8x8 series vehicles, which were specifically designed for low maintenance. Here is the solution for the primary fuel strainer/water separator that requires nothing but a turn of the handle now and then...
