Appreciate the hints to identify the 12-volt starter, it appears to be a DELCO 37-MT (10461058).....
I have no use for it, so if interested, make an offer. Weight is 51 lb.
Thanks Jim, good people on this site, for sure...
After I get this starter on the 8x8 checked out, I will be able to submit my "Starter system" article to Military Vehicles Magazine. :-)
Anybody have any clue to where a 12 volt starter may have been used with the multifuel bolt pattern (image...
Okay kipman, I need to check and will get back with you.
Do you have a starter ready to go? You know how heavy the towbar is, right, more or less pickup only.
Thanks for all suggestions! A new starter is nowhere to be seen in my budget, but I do have stuff to trade. :-)
The towbar may be spoken for, so if there is any interest in it, I'll have to check first.
The alternator came from my parts multifuel engine and was taken apart for an article I...
Before removing the starter from the 8x8 engine, I'd like to know what's out there, what's available, where and at what cost. The starter should be the same for all multifuel engines except for different brands.
I was pretty sure that the solenoid was the problem, but it now appears that the...
Yes, wire #15 is a good starting point, it feeds the light switch, so if there is power on it and no lights, it would seem that the light switch is malfunctioning....
I can make you another relay unit, but it may take a while since I get the mil spec parts from ebay. Glad you are happy with it...
There is a road tractor, xm757 in Eastern OK for sale. There was an m656 in Hendersen NV for sale a while back also one in San Diego, all pretty expensive, I'm trying to save up for the one at SECO in GA just to save it from the scrapper.....it's not complete, missing engine, transmission and...
Ran the genset for 15 minutes to check the new exhaust, which keeps the heat away from the back of the 8x8 cab.
The muffler temp was 350 to 400°F and the cab reached 160 degrees, better than having the exhaust blast the paint off of it.
Also realized why the jerry can may collect water if...
Re: RE: Windshield wiper test
The windshield doesn't fold like on the deuce, it's removed entirely. It's a two man job and would require the removal of the wiperarms and the heater controls, which are mounted on top frame piece above the driver.
Needless to say, it's not done often and when...
Sort of, wasn't driving...They are a lot more effective than the deuce wipers and they park themselves when shut off. They are air powered by Sprague units.
..gotto find something better to do....
Good subject.
I think you should have several kits on hand depending on where you are and who is with you. For treating yourself or other persons. If you know someone has an adverse reaction to wasp stings, for example, include whatever they are used to carry along.
Like when preparing tool...
Yes, the contacts will be replaced/cleaned up and the original solenoid kept as a spare.
After several starting attemps, the "chatter" is still there. It is obvious that the starter must be replaced also, but at least, if you are sure about the problem, the solenoid can be replaced without...
I understand that's not your question, but I avoid painting rubber hoses, wire harnesses etc, simply don't like to deal with the paint when working on them, fittings and so on. Black goes well with camo paint anyway, you wouldn't want to paint the tires, right?
