    My dad's new FMTV...

Then there was this 5-ton 8x8 designed and built in the 60's to replace the deuces and 5-tonners of the era. The M656 was built for minimum maintenace and one of the first vehicles built from scratch to military specifications. Bet it can outperform most 2-1/2 to and 5-tonners of today.... I...

    New V-100

Added a PS Magazine article on the V100 as used in Vietnam... It even had run-flat tires. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?set_albumName=album23&id=ps214_p2_3_v100_xm706&name=gallery&include=view_photo.php

    Power plant heater

Beautiful! Doesn't look like mine either, what model is it? Have you tested it? The alcohol vaporizer seems to have some non-original parts , like the glass jar and the copper tubing or is that GI also?

    Veggie/diesel mix

RE: Re: Veggie/diesel mix The proportions of veggie oil to diesel will depend on how you are using your truck IMHO. If you are on a long trip and run the fuel down (in the tank) constantly, use a higher percentage of VO, perhaps 80%, it is kept warm by the return flow. If you use the truck in a...

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

Tested the fuel control valve again yesterday after the unit failed to start and the results were not consistent with what I had the day before. It appears that the valve is sluggish and needs a cleaning. Would be nice to have new control valves available, I have several heaters with "sluggish"...

    Field kitchen question

Hmm..not a part, but I have C-14 (Change #14, dated 15 July 1996) for the TM 10-7360-206-13, stapled and about 1/4 inch thick, perhaps 75 pages. How about $12.00 USPS priority mail postage included....

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

Jwaller, one thing that would be of interest would be any adjustment required for a different operating position, horizontal vs vertical, so if you find anything on it, please let us (me) know. I think that the wicking action may be effected by gravity and a wick is used to bring fuel to the...

    Dancing guages

The deuce dash does not have a dedicated ground wire, but relies on the 1/4 turn fasteners for ground. Clean up the fasteners or add a good ground wire.....

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

Checked the fuel rate setting on the coolant heater this afternoon, suspecting that the flame out the exhaust may be because of too much fuel. Images below show the procedure. I found that the "LO" setting had a rate of about 20 cc/minute and the "HI" was about 35 cc/minute. That's way too much...

    Deuce off road shortcomings

Re: RE: Re: RE: Deuce short comings Agreed, what's often overlooked is the ability to perform work, actually transporting goods while going off road.

    Leak at Fuel Pump

RE: Fuel Pump Model Number? You may want to check the crankcase oil for fuel also, a leaking fuel pump could easily dump fuel into the oil. It happened to my son's '53 M37 and his solution was an in-line electric pump....

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

Thanks, that would be great, the TM troubleshooting guide is not very detailed, "replace heater" is not an option... BTW, you should be receiving your coolant heater tomorrow and like I said, it will be needing a going over. Lee, I'll be checking the air flow next. The coolant heater doesen't...

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

Cranked up the coolant heater again this morning. Took a full 3 minutes, it showed signs of wanting to start, so I kept the switch in "start" position a little longer than recommended in the TM (2 minutes only). It finally caught and produced a lot of smoke again. The smoke in the cab is via the...

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

Both the coolant and the personnel heaters are now installed in the 757 and it was time to test them (the 4th of July is good in case of fire works). The personnel heater worked well as expected since it was tested last year. I didn't pre check the coolant heater based on the fact that it came...

I put Bio in my CUCV!

More like filtered WVO, but nothing wrong with that. Put a sample in the fridge or freezer and see how it behaves when it gets cold. In the Winter with colder temps, you'll have trouble startiing it with this mix.
