    M106 Mortar Carrier

After messin' around with the M901 yesterday, we had a chance to do some work on a M106 Mortar carrier. It has not moved or ran since before it was put in place 20 or so years ago. It needed u-joints for the dif to RH final drive, so I did some research and found a local company that had the...

    Another one up and running!

We had another good day at the Museum yesterday. Got the M901 Tow Missile Launcher ready for a trip for the show "Lock and Load". Replaced some glass, got the launcher up and working, got the IC working and we saw something under the paint on the LH and RH front of the unit. Did some light...

Motor problem, cuts out at speed.

Sounds like an electrical gremlin. Check all the battery connections, the grounds to the chassis and the coil power wire.

Need new air hose for 105

Use the proper hardware, if a LEO sees hose clamps on an air line, it will just be cause to pull you over. NAPA or a HD truck dealer will have the parts you need, You'll just need the 2 ferruls and the hose.

    Gasket change

If you have experience wrenching on things, it shouldn't be a problem. Here are a few tips. Don't use one of those buffing pads that is used on a die grinder on aluminum parts, and if you use it on steel, sparks mean you are removing material, cover oil galleys with tape, silicone is not a...

Was told to get "back-up" lights, so,,,,,,

That is neat. Never had to do that to get my junk registered, but trying to see out in the dez at night while backing is a PITA. I would like to do something like that. Are they 12 or 24vdc? I'd also mount them a tad more inboard 'cause creosote bushes like to reach out and grab things that hang...

    Bad head gasket?

Is it comming from between the heads? If so, most likely a failed head gasket. Look under the exhaust ports and see if there is a small tab with a groove in it sticking out from the head/ block joint. If so, you have the old style head gaskets. They are prone to oil, coolant and compression...

    Qs about Bosch PSB-6a

Also check that the shut down lever under the cover on the side is not stuck in the zero delivery position.

New Part # deuce lower rad. hose

Make sure there is clearance between the damper and the hose. If not, you'll rub a hole in it the first trip around the block. Crap, I have hose kits for the 2 1/2 multi. I need to advertise more!

    nhc 250 water pump leaking

They can be fugly. If it has been off, just get a new copper seal. Coat the new one with antiseize and tighten the bolts evenly...that is very important. IIRC, there is a torque for it.

    rear main seal

Correct. I think there is also an expandable plug behind the flywheel housing that is the seal for the cam bore. It can leak too. Don't chance it, you're there, just do all of it so you won't have to worry about it. Just thought of something else. If the truck has been sitting, make sure those...

    rear main seal

See the 6 bolts around the seal? Those hold the carrier...the part that holds the seal... to the block. Over time, the gasket turns back into the tree it was originally made from...I think it is oak or yellow pine...and stops sealing from the use of the engine, heat and shrinkage. The bolts have...

    rear main seal

Well, in my past experiences, thankfully the rear seal on my deuce has not sprung a leak, but, I deal with this kinda crap on a daily basis. If a rear seal is leaking, there is USUALLY a bunch of oil behind the flywheel ...just like the pic you posted, but not too much in the clutch area. If it...

I forgot about that! I'll check it when we bring it back from Playboy.

    HELP! 250 cummins

Coolant in the oil, knock, blue smoke. Sounds like a hung piston. Best thing to do is to drop the oil pan and look up the belly of it. If it recently..well low miles ago...had on overhaul, my guess, if it wasn't hot, is a rolled liner o-ring or crevice seal. Did you look to see if the belts were...

    M8 Greyhound

We took it the way it was/is. It still has pedal and can be driven short distances, but it will still need to be made right. That will come in the very near future because it is going to get some use and possibly generate some income for the Museum :-D. Any luck on finding the info you were...
