It looks a little like the one I have in the 8x8, a Racor 1000FG. Love the "from the top filter element replacement" design. It's also a water separator and uses treated filter elements that repel water. The micron rating is 20 at the moment.

The 5th wheel NSN should be the same for the deuce and the 5-tonners. Image shows removal of 5th wheel for use on xm757 8x8, also the same NSN. Mounting and ramps are different....

Compared to diesel prices, kerosene is hardly worth it and it's usually dyed to prevent use in vehicles (non-taxed). I have a source for clear kerosene here and use some mixed with veggie oil, can also be used with diesel to prevent "waxing" in the Winter.

The internal/external lock washers serves the purpose of joining the metal parts of the truck for a continous electrical ground circuit, if the original ones lose their "bite", they won't serve this purpose well, I'd replace them with new heat treated ones....

As far as energy storage, it's only a fraction of the lead acid battery, perhaps 1/10th, cranking the engine for 4 to 5 seconds before recharging.

IMHO, if you keep your regular batteries happy, they (ultra caps) would never be needed..
