hm...I had a 427..went to holland bought a complete 465 drove it home!..(ferry x water!)..put 465 into my deuce.. power "sounds" and traction much better. ..take a peek at this document...oh..and as a pee,ess..the SINGLE HOLE injectors give MORE power. tek a butcherz at..TM 9-2320-356-bd...

I run 1200x20 on my deuce. all the favourable comments apply. rears flipped SPACER plates on ALL axles carry the wheels IN LINE and track (width) max! the engine (now) never "hunts" and I keep up with (H.G.V.) traffic at decent R.P.M.s. P.S. looks and stands great!
oil supply
?? the engine oil pump takes oil from the sump..wence it goes through the filters..primers (also) take (the same) oil from the same same source AND send that oil THROUGH the filters...(at the filter block housing)obviating the point of FILLING the EMPtY(drained) filter cannistors..
pre lube
your project sounds good. and not acting as a check valve doesn't matter. MINE drains back each and every time its stood. BUT gents...so it takes 30seconds to prime full..WHAT A NICE (satisfying) feeling when the oil press(eventualy). climbs to 15 lbs or so B 4 pushing the start...
well apart from the "looks"...(and (just) WHO looks in the battery case any waze!...with 5 trucks I have ANY and EVERY battery in them! mostly from our local car scrap(breaker) yard!!...obviouslt NO silly lill ones...but any diesel car batts work fine.

THATS HOW we used the britt tank bar! dolly OR 5th wheel ..= SANE loading. ONE towed unit. (tho with air and electric hookups)..not sure of the law requirement over there tho...(I suspect.....its the same..as here..)ya sposed to UNHOOK the fith wheel and recover the trailer sepratly) let allone...

The forces on the front towbar shackles(lifting eyes)as allready pointed out are horendous! we used the brittish hollybone tank bar (the one mounted on my m54a2 fender in deks pics). succinctly. when cornering the deuce(and similar) kick out the rears as springs slide accross the end shackles...
