It is almost undoubtedly one of the check valves, most likely the one on top of the tank. Was the smoke white that was coming out of the exhaust? White smoke means lack of fuel. Black smoke means too much fuel. I would advise pulling the check valve and cleaning it thoroughly. Be very...
Under the forum rules, SS members are required to list their State. I would recommend changing the location requirements to include the following. 'All members are encouraged to enter their location on the Member Map, although this is an optional requirement.'
This is an excellent rule and should drfinitely be kept intact. The potential for collusion problem is a serious one. Another problem is that many of us bidding on lots from GL and other auctions, dedicate a large amount of time doing research before bidding, including site visits, which can...
It's not that difficult to pull the transmission in an M35. I would recommend going ahead and replacing the clutch, pressure plate, pilot shaft bearing, throw out bearing and rear engine seal at the same time as these parts don't cost that much and then you know exactly where you stand.
Assuming the engine is in good shape, it should start right up. I've found that if a deuce doesn't start right up down to the teens, it is time to change the fuel filters. If that doesn't work, check the in-tank pump and hose. There is no reason a deuce won't start right up in cold weather...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! You've come to the right place. There are many good experiences with GL, as well as some bad ones. Read the posts and decide for yourself. It is critical that you follow the rules when bidding and your problems will be minimized.
You are comparing apples and oranges here. The link you provided involves using hydrogen as a fuel. This is old technology. People have played around with hydrogen fueled vehicles for a very long time. It's great, the exhaust is water, almost non-polluting. Most of the pollution generated...
There is no doubt that the system is generating a miniscule amount of hydrogen and oxygen, but not enough to make any difference in economy. Plus, it takes more fuel to power the alternator to crack the water into hydrogen and oxygen. I feel sorry for the people wasteing their hard earned...
After draining the tanks on my deuces, I put a few gallons of gasoline in and drain it again. I repeat until the crud stops coming out. when you only drain the diesel once, there can still be a lot of crud hanging on the inside of the tank.
I had an extremely stubborn drain plug on a differential once that was so tight I was concerned that something would break when using a long breaker bar. Someone told me to drive the vehicle until the differential case was warm and then hold a piece of dry ice against the plug for a minute...
It is possible to synchronize the MEP-003A gensets. This is common practice in the military. Normally if you see a trailer with two 003 gensets mounted, they are designed to be connected in this way. This allows one genset to be shut down for PM while the other genset continues to maintain...
Many years ago, maybe 40 years, I read an article somewhere about a guy that was in a boat out in the Gulf of Mexico that broke the driveshaft completely in two pieces, and he couldn't raise any help via radio. The guy supposedly by-passed the rectifiers on the engine alternator. He then used...
The MEP-003A engine is designed to run at 1800 RPM. Once it starts, adjust the RPM until you are getting 60 Hz. Never idle the engine or you wil damage the VR for certain. When you shut it down, shut it down at 1800 RPM. When you start it back up, it should come up to ~1800 if you havent...
If the engine is running, the fuel should squirt out the petcock under good pressure. Sometimes you need to rod out the petcock with a piece of wire if it is crudded up and hasn't been opened in a while. You will need a good quality oil filter strap wrench to get the filter loose. Have you...
Make sure the fuel filter is on tight, but be careful not to overtighten or you'll never get it loose again. I would actually recommend removing the fuel fiter and replace it with a new filter rather than tightening the old filter. You need to thoroughly clean and dry the whole external...
The A3s have an air dryer that should keep moisture out of the tires, assuming the air dryer is working properly. Mine wasn't, so i replaced it. Also, will the beads work when you have a beadlock installed? I would assume not. I run 55 - 60 psi in the tires and the truck runs much better and...
