Because the M109A2 was upgraded to a newer version but still based on the M35A2 basic truck. They went to the next descriptor which was A3 for the M109. Later, during the ESP program, the basic M35A2 truck was upgraded to the M35A3. When the M109 series was upgraded in the ESP program, since...
Ditto on what Rustygears said about the valve stem grommets causing most air leaks. Ditto also on Erik's. He is honest and prompt about shipping and has a lot of A3 stuff.
I would recommend leaving the CTIS stuff on and simply not use it. You don't want to use it anyway because the highway...
You can try Delk's for the cable. http://www.de;lsarmynavysurplus.com The telephone for Delk's is: 336-629-0991. You can check the actual output with a meter and see what you are really producing. For most applications you won't see any difference between 55 and 60 Hz. If you are using the...
Congratulations on a good recovery! I hope you enjoy your A3. One note concerning cleaning the check valves, which I highly encourage. The check valve on the top of the tank can be a bear to remove. The fuel line that connects to the elbow, is normally quite tight. When loosening the fuel...
Why not go ahead and pick up some new military ties and new tubes and go ahead and have the new tires mounted before loading on your trailer? Why even fool with replacement wheels?
You can get the tubing at at auto parts store. I haven't looked at the cap on my winch reservoir, but if it is a flat piece of cork, you can buy small pieces of flat cork gasket at many auto parts stores. You can then cut out a new gasket to match the old one.
I'm not saying you are wrong. Almost anything is possible. However, I have never seen an in-tank pump on an A3 and the TM doesn't show one. Are you sure you aren't hearing the check valve clicking and echoing in the tank? The fuel pump is located on top of the governor and is mechanically...
The A3 wheel and tire is about 385 pounds. If you let the spare drop make absolutely certain that you don't have a lug wrench on the shaft. Another Steel Soldier can tell you about his hospital visit as a result of that. Also, the latching mechanism will tend to skip and let the wheel drop...
Forget the CTIS. Mine works, but it limits you to 45 PSI for the highway, which is way too low. I run 55 - 60 PSI in the tires and the truck runs much better and the A3 death wobble is reduced. The tires are rated to 80 PSI, but the two-part wheels are red-lined at 60 PSI so I never exceed...
You can find used A3 wheels in good condition if you look. I needed a new tire and found a new tire already mounted on a wheel, and it didn't even leak. A good way is to look for posts where someone is bobbing an A3, because they will have two unused wheels. I hope your recovery went well.
A2s have a primary pump located in the tank. Flipping the long switch as you called it (the master) will turn the pump on in an A2. In an A3, there is no in-tank pump. The pump is located on top of the governor assembly and is mechanically driven by the governor. The pump will not fill the...
You are correct - sometimes it is not that easy! First off, you mentioned filling the filter with diesel before installing. That is a good idea, except it won't work on the 3116 engine. The filter screws on facing down, so the diesel will pour out.
Now for the potential problems. On my A3...
Congratulations on finally getting your title. I know what you went through geting my A3 titled. The group in Atlanta at the main state title office is worthless. The one woman kept telling me that I had a HMMWV, just a big one. I had zero problems titling the A3 at the Towns County office.
