    Shipping from WI

I recovered an M35A3 from Sparta last January. I couldn't find anyone cheap enough, so I drove it back to GA, about 1,000 miles. Of course, Fort Myers is a lot further.

    Gensets from GL today

I bid on two 30D36R 3kw gensets, but they went crazy high.

    Ahhhhh which Deuce

I've got both. I like both, but so far the A2 has been much much more dependable than the A3, gets better mileage and goes faster. However, I'm keeping both, but don't tell my wife.

    First M35A3

When I first recovered my A3 the trans temp gauge hovered around 150 for normal highway driving and about 200 - 225 for stop and go traffic. Once I switched to Dexron III, it dropped to 115 - 225 for normal highway driving. With the Dexron III and short trips of less than 10 - 15 miles, the...

    2011 Ga Rally t-shirt poll/order thread

Thanks for handling the shirts this year WM. You did an absolutely fantastic job with the design and everything else involved with the shirts. I know it was a lot of work.

Ditto on the axle housings not being pressurized - or at least they are not supposed to be. From the OP, I couldn't tell if air is coming from the bolt holes or not. If air is coming from the bolt holes or from the axle vent, one or more of the CTIS hub seals is shot. On the oil in the...

M35A3 execessive blowby and blue smoke on decel

That is very interesting. I need to do some research. I've been told by more than one source that 3116 engines do not have sleeves. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

These regulators have a very high failure rate. Either bypass it or replace it. They are an easy to find item and quite easy to replace. This would also be a good time to give one or two squirts of air tool oil into the input side of the actuator.

M35A3 execessive blowby and blue smoke on decel

The CAT 3116 engine isn't a throwaway engine. People call it that because it is a sleeveless engine which means that when it is rebuilt, you cannot replace the sleeves. Most of the M35A3s out there have very little mileage on them and it is very unlikely that most people with A3s would drive...

Fix a flat for slow oring leak?

It looks like it's time for some work then. Or, time to spend some money. Make sure you read the TM on doing this. The wheel/tire is about 382 pounds and can hurt you. Make sure the tire is completely deflated when beginning. When you first remove the CTIS wheel valve, look for differential...

    New Steel Soldiers Admin/Webmaster!

I had an idea I posted as a suggestion a while back, concerning New Posts. Currently, after a certain number of new posts, all of the new posts are cleared out. Is it possible to make it so that a running tally of the newest 100 (or some other number) posts are listed under New Posts, with the...

Fix a flat for slow oring leak?

Ditto on not using the Fix-a-flat. Are you certain it is the o-ring that is leaking? The most common cause of a leak on an A3 wheel is the grommet behind the valve stem nut. Unfortunately, you still have to separate the wheel and replace the O-ring.

Ditto on switching out the front tires to the rear. I had a blow out during my A3 recovery. Fortunately, it was on the rear, but it was still bad. I would highly recommend changing out the motor oil in the Allison for Dexron III. Use the drain and fill technique and change out both internal...

Ditto. If you get in a hurry you will make a financial mistake. If I see one cheap, I'll send you a PM.

The CM contact here on SS is no longer with CM. If you want to contact CM, you need to call them. I wouldn't waste the time or money with CM on a rebuild. I have seen the CTIS control units being given away free in the past by people removing the CTIS. Also, many being sold for very low prices.

I know at least one person has had CM reprogram their controller to a higher PSI for highway. However, after talking with an engineer at CM and also someone that had connections at AM General, I decided not to go this route. Apparently, AM General and the Army realized that the weak point in...

    This has some real possibilities.....

That thing is really cool. I work for Honeywell and we make the T-hawk, a small ducted fan flying machine that is used for surveillance in the Army by the infantry. They are now using them at the Fukushima Daichi reactor site in Japan to measure radiation levels. Honeywell : T-Hawk Micro Air...
